Fair enough I suppose. The
Fair enough I suppose. The horror of memes is that it's not like avoiding a brand of ego bridge or skillsoft. You see the wrong ad, listen to your friends talk about trending topics, and suddenly your guided by ideas that are alien and dangerous.
Exhuman, and Humanitarian.

Elective surgery isn't
Elective surgery isn't exactly something a memetic agitator can reliably use, though, psycho- or otherwise. However, a clever word-of-mouth campaign could seed the "you need to get braintweaked" meme fairly well. Memes are mental software, though; physically changing the brain through psychosurgery changes the mental hardware. That in and of itself is not a meme, though it could make someone more susceptible or resistant to memetic suggestions (in-game example: adding/removing the Trusting Heart trait)

Arguably the plot of MPD Psycho is primarily about an exhuman memetic x-risk.
I loved MPD Psycho. Suicide Club is another one that has sort of a hostile memes feel to it, too. I think the level of power memes have in MPD Psycho might stretch plausibility a bit for some EP campaigns, but if you could get your players along for the ride, it'd be amazing.
Well, MPD Psycho level memes might stretch plausibility for transhuman level memetic warfare...although I suppose past that point it's basically just basilisk hacks.

Very Quickly because Out Of Time...
In my mind, the difference between Memetics, Psychosurgery and Basilisks can be summed up as; Memetics = Interfacing (Using the Systems already present in the Mind) Psychosurgery = InfoSec (Altering the Systems already present in the Mind) Basilisks = Programming (Replacing the Systems already present in the Mind)
In the past we've had to compensate for weaknesses, finding quick solutions that only benefit a few. But what if we never need to feel weak or morally conflicted again?
