Messing with stuff
Kindalas; In my game I use the concept that many morphs (especially corporate morphs) come with behavioral programming installed in the design of their brains. To this end I like to switch 1 or two of the Addiction morph traits to Behavioural Programming. In the past I've had to then modify the something in the values sheet so a character choosing Behavioural Programming wouldn't have a neg. Durrability modifier. I can't remember how I did that. Any ideas? I appreciate any help If I figgure it out I'll post the instructions here. [Edit] Figgured it out. It wasn't the values Sheet (note to self: never! Fuck with the values sheet) If anyone else wants to do what I did. On the Morph Sheet; Cell C47, C48 enter: Behavioral Programming >>this will change the last two addiction slots to read "Behavioral Programming"<< On the morph Sheet; Cell K47, K48 enter: =IF(AND(H47>0,J47=""),"What Behavior has been programmed in this morph: is it; Limited?Boosted, Blocked/Encouraged, Expunged/Enforced? Hmmm... That's a lot of work I havn't been paying attention to how many morphs (90!) there are in the game now. I'm going to try to take a whack at it.

Yea I'm thinking of redoing how the values sheet stores some of that morph data. I would like to make it so morphs can have a specific number of implants of each type. Rather then the current system of it's all free.

I'd like to add an additional selection of "Custom" linked to the custom morphs from the variables sheet to the Type droppdown on the morphs page but I still havn't figured out how to get into that. I have no idea where dropdown menus are generated. For now I'm just replacing published morphs that I don't care about with my custom varieties. on the values sheet.

I think I understand your statement above and your goal (I'm reading from work so I'm a little distracted) and I think I got this to work, but there were a few columns that needed formulas filled and I didn't want to update something that might get changed in v96. What you're wanting to do is add an option to the drop down menu in the Book/Type field, so at the very end there's a "Custom" option and only your Custom morphs would then show up, correct?, and then as an additional question, would you want them to also show up under Biomorph, Synth, Uplift or Pod depending on the Type you put in? (this, by the way is the formula handling that I was having issues with when trying to come up with an elegant solution). If I'm understanding you correctly, let me know, and I can tell you the fields I edited/updated to get it to work (or so it seemed with the minimal testing I was able to do). I'm sure there's more elegant ways to do it, but seeing as my group is working on a ME/EP crossover type universe (Quarians, Geth, and probably Krogan are allies with Transhumanity, the Council races, not so much) that starts this Sunday, I needed a quick and dirty way to add in a Splicer Quarian Morph (our peace offering to the Quarians), and a Liberated Geth Morph into the spreadsheet, so I didn't go for elegant, I went for working. ;)

Step by Step
Okay, Since I'm not sure how many of the hidden fields you've set to show here is my step-by-step process to adding the three custom slots back in: 1> In the purchasable Morphs section, you'll see that Selkie is on row 136, and the next row is 141, so unhide rows 137 - 140. 2> Next Unhide rows 180 - 453 - this will unhide a lot of stuff, but the Custom Morph Builder is the important section. 3> Type in a name for your custom morph and then scroll back up to row 138 (this step is very important, I couldn't figure out why none of my customs were showing up, then I figured it out) set the GM's Value to Yes. 4> I then proceeded to build a single morph, this was to find out which columns still needed formulas and to make sure everything carries forward, so I gave a basic implant, bioware, cyberware, etc, one of each. (FYI, Ultraviolet sight and some of the newer bioware is not on the list, so you would have to manually update the values column to add those as default enhancements, which will require a copy, then paste Special - > Values in AD93.) 5> Okay, now time to edit the Values tab, first you'll notice that even with everything filled in, Biomorph and Uplift both have blank values, you can either manually edit those fields (typing 1 if yes, 0 if no) or use the formulas in W93 and X93 to build your own formulas. I manually entered the data as my plan was to push these "custom morphs" into standard morphs for my game. If you want to "lock them in" you'll want to Copy, Paste Special - Values A93 to AH93 6> now in cell AH93 type in a Custom field (I used my Initials to stick with the two letter standard). 7> now go to E267 and add the word Custom to the list, followed by editing the formula in E257 to read =COUNTA(E258:E267), the result should now display 10, not 9. 8> Now for the fun formula - On E112, you'll see a long formula that ends in OFFSET($AH$1,MATCH($A112,VAL_MORPH,0),0)="RW") what you need to do is, after the "RW" part, add the same language, only with your two letter code, in my example, my initials are DS, so now it will look like OFFSET($AH$1,MATCH($A112,VAL_MORPH,0),0)="RW",OFFSET($AH$1,MATCH($A112,VAL_MORPH,0),0)="DS"), This should make it so that the Flat says "FALSE" in the field you just edited if you set the Type Field on Morph to "Custom", every formula below it will read "#VALUE!" still, so now highlight E112 to E205, and assuming you are editing this in Excel you can now hit ctrl+D to fill the formula into all of the highlighted cells below it. If this works you should see all of the E values will now say FALSE, except for your custom Morphs which will show TRUE. Theoretically this would allow you to expand the number of morphs, using your custom morphs, to an ever-expanding list of Morphs, you would just have to continue to insert rows and you'd have to edit the conditional formatting on the Default and GM values on the Variables tab, but I haven't gotten that far yet. Hope this is easy to follow, and helps you out, if something doesn't make sense let me know. I have a screen capture program so if needed I could always do a youtube video or something of the changes I make.

Just a very minor note for future revisions, if it hasn't already been reported: the gear description for mental speed comes from the original rules -- it notes a +30 to initiative instead of a +3.

What I am working on now.
Currently I have a list of things to do before the next update. My list of done things: Redesign Armor Redesign the Skills Sheet Fixed some Morphs buyable issues. Update the gear descriptions. My to do list includes: Redesign Guns/Weapons to match the new Armor thing. Put Custom Morphs, Backgrounds and Factions Back in. Maybe Redesign how the Morphs buyable works. Change the base colours. Skillsoft fiddling to work with the new Skills Sheet Redo Muse and AI sheet. Move Muse/AI to Morph Sheet Implement Fork Status on morph sheet. Maybe fiddle with the PSI system. [B][i]Maybe[/i][/B] Redesign the Printable Sheet (And Flat Sheet) so you can choose which combination of morphs you want printed/exported as PDFS. And Make a Powepoint Howto Guide on a)Preparing the Sheet as a GM and B) making a character. What I'm looking for now is feedback and ideas on the above things so I can hopefully preempt the need for a 0.97 Sheet right after 0.96 is released. William

Just wanted to post a quick comment on the 0.95 sheet. There seems to be some sort of glitch/bug that corrupts the morph page for me. After a while of using the sheet the Morph Type and Model will display only a list of synthetic morphs and no organic ones - regardless of whether I filter through core, bio, etc. I noticed this happening whilst creating NPCs, so I downloaded a fresh copy of the sheet and that worked just fine. I am using the latest version of Open Office.

A question for kindalas
Hey dude, I just started running my own campaign and of course I killed their newly made morphs faster than they could have said Transumanism. I just wanted them to get the feeling that lost body doesn't mean dead character, since they are all newbies to EP. But when my player wanted to resleeve and erase all his gear from the charsheet, it generated back the money he had paid for it. Is that a bug or is there any way around it, so he can buy new gear and not get the money from the destroyed one? Thanx for the answer and thank you for your awesome creation. It really helps a lot

What I do is leave the old morph on the sheet. And start filling in the secondary morph data. Currently there is no way to make it so you don't get money/CP back from swapping Morphs.

The morph is not such a problem, the problem is the gear, if he wants to delete all the gear, because it was burnt in a plasma torpedo explosion, he will get all the money back from it. But I guess that is one unfixable problem, isn't it?

It's not too tough to add an expenses line item to the table on the gear sheet. In cell C 12 type expenses use dell D 12 to record your expenditures. this will be a running tally. each time you spend credits you'll have to add that amount to the current amount. in cell D 17 change the formula to; =SUM(D13:D15,-D16-D12) makes it easier to pay bribes and note when you've lost gear.

That should work.
That's a quick solution. Right now I'm still aggressively fighting with my mega gun upgrade. I have it at the point where you can buy any gun or ammo or armor combination using drop downs. I just need to assemble the printable data in a useful way.

Transhuman and the Singularity Character Generator
Well transhuman has just been released for the Kickstarter backers and for everyone else on the 7th and it was clear from the open playtest that all kinds of changes will be needed to update the Excel sheet. Right now I have two options. Build everything that relates to the original character generation system into the excel sheet and then release it as 0.96 Or build it in chunks, first morphs & gear, then new backgrounds & factions, then the weird morphs and then the bits and things at the end. The first option will probably take until the end of the month to do because 70-90% of the sheet needs to be changed in some way. The second option will probably take a week or two for each step since I'll have to make the sheet usable at every level. As for the packages and life path systems I think I will hold off on touching those and to let the Singularity Generator take care of them. Because while I am comfortable with making a supplement to a Posthuman Studios product I am not comfortable with duplicating one. Now if the new generator becomes a dream of pipes I'll step up but Adam, Brian and Rob are smart about who they give money to. So I don't expect that to happen at all. In fact, with no insider knowledge at all, I expect that the Singularity generator will end up being every kind of awesome with the kinds of features that I can only dream of. Like upgradable character files. Currently I'm considering the above two options. But if anyone has opinions share em here and I'll add them to my planning. William Wilson

I'd be interested in seeing
I'd be interested in seeing your sheets continue as they are but with updated lists/addons for the new morphs, backgrounds, equipment, etc. I've found your sheets to be the mainstay by which every GM who runs an EP game in my local area uses to create and maintain EP characters. I would advise against going down the life path option simply because of the rigorousness of creation your sheets currently allow.

For the record; Your sheet is more important to me than the singularity generator because I can hack my mods into your sheet and I won't be able to do that with the singularity generator.

Well if you are volunteering. Again. Then yes I need the new Factions and Backgrounds as well as a descriptions of all of the Ego/Morph Traits because I really need to get those into the sheet too. And I will ensure that the custom Variables sheet is gone over and redesigned again for people like you who need the flexibility of excel.

Just start a new excel File. have the first column be just the faction. the second column the page references (EP pXX) or (TH pXX) the third column being the description of the faction. Currently the Core book Factions are done. But the Backgrounds need to be redone because the current descriptions are too short. Considering this is the Scumborn background Description

For Factions and Backgrounds I'm going to say use the same character lengths as the [b]Factions[/b] on the current sheet. I'm remaking the entire ego sheet and will find the space for longer descriptions. But I'll restate here to be clear. The Core book Factions are 100% done. The Core Book Backgrounds need to be expanded to the same general length of the Factions.

A quick and dirty way to make the package generation work: An additional page for the package picks, and then a button that uses a macro to copy the choices into the rest of the sheet. I could easily make the sheet, but I'd need someone to help with the data entry.

Two problems
I don't do macros on sheets I post online. I can after all format your hard drive with them. And the fundamanetal structure of backgrounds and factions is different between the lifepath systems and the current system. However I'm thinking of ways to structure the input methods to allow for both to exist on the sheet at the same time.

I used thelabmonkey's comma-separated values file as a basis so I also put in the trait costs/bonuses just 'cause. As with the faction/background descriptions, feel free to nip tuck to adjust length, although I tried to trim them to be about the same. Let me know if there's other stuff you could use!

I'm rebuilding the ego sheet from scratch right now. Epic fun. I have just finished the skills of the Factions and backgrounds. It was nice. Now I'm onto the hell of ego traits and rewriting them from zero to integrate PSI sleights into the traits. After that REP and Moxie and the EGO should (crossing fingers be done). [b]Quick Question:[/b] Do I keep the current non cannon multiple identities and rep chart? Or do I only have one field for it and just let everyone notepaper complexity like that? Or do I magically make a more complicated yet informative system? I'll be accepting responses until I finish the traits. William

1. Keep it. This works well, no complaint from me and my playing crew. We all appreciate what you are doing greatly. You've made playing EP easy and streamlined for character creation. Feature Request: Ability to turn on/off material that is allowed within the campaign. I know this is a tall order to do if you can pull it off.

Maybe Redesign how the Morphs buyable works. Change the base colours. Skillsoft fiddling to work with the new Skills Sheet Redo Muse and AI sheet. Move Muse/AI to Morph Sheet Implement Fork Status on morph sheet. Maybe fiddle with the PSI system.
YES PLEASE! Your character sheet has always been excellent, but there is no way that you could possibly keep up with every new book, outside resource, play-test, and home-brew. Giving a way for users to add in extra content is paramount. Maybe just have a sheet devoted to factions or backgrounds that can be added to or edited (I am not very familiar with the advanced options in xl, but can do basic table entry easily enough).

Custom Morphs
For the record, I don't think you have to include the morph design rules from Transhuman. First of all, people might want to wing it or use their own systems (or Codebreaker's). Also, if previous books' morphs are any indication there will likely be future morphs that end up being *ahem* non-standard CP costs. It also might be possible to use this for variant morphs like Europan octomorphs, cyberbrained biomorphs, or something tweaked with the new system.

I agree. Custom morph creation rules would add another layer of complexity while restricting functionality. A custom-morph maker in xl with the morph creation rules might be an interesting stand alone project, but I'm much more interested in the character sheet. I might suggest an "additional notes" section in the custom morph section (if there is room there and/or on the printable sheet), to address any "special rules" that are not possible to work into the spreadsheet calculations (like the fact that spare morphs fold into an 18" disk, perhaps?).

Quick Update
I finally managed to get the New Ego sheet filed away. It now holds everything ego related so now there will be no need to jump from sheet to sheet. Next on my list is an all new Morph Sheet. It will cover all of the Morph details like bonuses traits and implants. The new Gear sheet is almost done. Guns need a bit more work, as always but as I have been working on making guns better for the past year off and on it should turn out quite epic,. After that the Character sheet will need to have all of the small things added back into it. I'm thinking of a change in colours for it from the heavy red to a more printer friendly black and white. I don't want to give a timeline for when it will be done, but that is because I thought I'd be done by now.

I would really like to see
I would really like to see more ability to add non standard items. Say for example somebody wants to have a violin. Who am I to say a player can’t have a violin, or a old style navel hand telescope, or an Australian flag, but I can’t find anywhere to put it on the character sheet. Can we have a section at the bottom of the gear tab to add some items that are non standard? No processing required just copy the text the user puts there to the printable sheet. I would love to see the custom morph/faction/backgrounds fully integrated. No need to include the formal design rules (don’t need to calculate that mid play I hope) but it would let us add something if we needed it. Lastly the issue of gear in play. The system you have works great for character generation but it isn’t going to deal well with equipment obtained through means other than purchase for average price (that item is more expensive here, obtained with rep, stolen), lost items (wether destroyed, lost or sold at less/more than purchase price) in any of these cases the cash awarded value would need to be hacked to maintain an accurate current credits value. And I anticipate all of these things happening constantly. Also morphs obtained in game are charged rez points (and rez and cp are refunded if you downgrade or lose a morph) The only way I can come up with to solve this without using macros is not to bother calculating expenses in play. Just have an aria where credits can be recorded manually (probably with the rep identities since credit accounts are linked to identity) when the user sets character generation complete the character creation system CP and credit boxes go blank. Its not great and will lead to greater complications when RP are being calculated.

More Updates
Right now I am nearly finished the Morph/Implants sheet. Then I do the gear section of the Gear/Armor/Guns/Ammo Sheet. Then Printable sheet. Then custom options sheet. (Variables sheet) Then it'll be released. It is taking so long because I have had to redo everything. But it will be better and faster then before.
