Hit Location Rules
I've created some hit location rules for EP. These will be paired with some rules for partial armour (ie. that only covers certain locations.) The main reason for doing this is to increase the value of wearing chest armour and helmets, as per the real world. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/2190127/EP/Advanced%20Combat.pdf To follow, when I get the time: armor components, and hit locations for non-humanoids, proofreading, editing…etc. I haven't playtested these rules, I just wrote them up for fun because I like that level of detail. So have at-it and let me know what you think. These rules probably add 1 additional roll if you succeed in hitting your target, and a couple of additional rolls for the target if they get wounded badly enough. Yes, they make getting wounded on certain locations VERY bad for your health - if you're going into combat wear a helmet and some decent chest armour. Note: this isn't an 'authorised' product, despite my attempt to make it look like one. Related: Apple's Pages FTW !

Re: Advanced Combat Options
First off the presentation is amazing. I would be really grateful if you could show me how you did this. My computer skills are rather limited beyond basic use so it would be awesome if you could offer some instruction. On the rules. I like them for the most part. Depending on the situation I would probably only use them for called shots to keep rolls to a minimum but if my players don't mind extra rolling I will probably use these.

Re: Advanced Combat Options
Thanks very much. I kind of challenged myself to copy the layout of the Eclipse Phase books as closely as I could. I used Apple's Pages app on a Mac - to be honest, I was amazed how well it coped. I've put the .pages source file here: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/2190127/EP/Advanced%20Combat%20Rules.zip If you have a Mac you should be able to download that and see how I put it together. No big surprises. You can download Pages from the Mac App Store here: http://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/pages/id409201541?mt=12 I hope to get some some time to add the armour components rules - that's the other shoe that will drop that makes the hit locations rules really worth it.

Will it only work on the Apple OS? I run Windows 7.

Yeah. Mac apps are incompatible with Windows. However, you might want to try searching the net to find out if there is a Windows version of it.

There doesn't seem to be. Dang, kills that way to make EP like pages for my house rules.

Re: Hit Location Rules
Nice to see the humble Pages finally getting some recognition :D For the Windows folks out there, Pages is *kind of* like a cross between MS Word and Adobe Indesign.

Excellent. Thanks Gee4orce =)

For layout in the Microsoft world, one can use this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microsoft_Publisher or perhaps the Draw part of Openoffice/Libreoffice: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LibreOffice#Included_applications

Re: Hit Location Rules
realizing this thread is now a year old. Have you had a chance to playtest these rules yet? How are they working out? One thought I had is that the damage roll is already an indicator of the severity of the hit. I've been using that to provide a description of the hit location, ie; a damage roll of 2d10 with a result of 2 would indicate that the hit location was in the distal part of a limb but a result above 15 would indicate a hit in the torso, and a MOS of 30 with it's +5 damage bonus would indicate a hit to the center mass or a headshot.
