Worlds within worlds
Given the technology of EP, as well as current trends in simulated reality, is there any large nation-states or factions that largely exist within a simulated reality within the Mesh? And how sophisticated can such constructs be? I'm wondering for example if you can say, run a simulated reality based on testing out reflexes and improve real-world skills as a result. And if such worlds exist they can pretty much be entered into via mesh inserts common in many morphs correct (I'm fascinated with the latent Lovecraftian elements found in some of the story elements of some transhuman stories... EP included... and was wondering about the possibility of a sort of virtual "Dreamlands").

I believe the book mentions

I believe the book mentions somewhere the idea of a habitat where there were far more egos than morphs, so the morphs were shared and used as needed, with the preference being in infomorph form.

I'd say that given every time you inhabit a new morph you roll an integration test, no amount of mesh prep helps you move in a real body. Otherwise simulator programs would be available that would eliminate the need for integration tests.

Or perhaps such programs are simply cutting edge tech.

Re: I believe the book mentions
For the most part, the way that society could avoid resleeving penalties is by not resleeving. Since they have only a limited number of morphs to share, they would be better off keeping the informorphs on the servers and having them out jamming the morphs they need to use. Also, mesh prep can help your body to an extent. You can - presumably - gain Rez for actions taken in VR, and (GM permitting) this Rez can be spent to aquire Right at Home for the morph you've been simulating. However, it should be noted that if this is allowed, it may become common practice (and a Rez sink).

I must say that I was a bit disappointed to not read description of virtual "places" within the Mesh. The Jovian Forum, home of the republics politics, the reputation stock exchange of the inner system, the breathtaking fictional MMORPG where all the Fall-shocked soul dream of a better life... All of these can be settings for meetings, information gathering, reputation earning in a diplomacy setting.

Far weirder virtual worlds are possible.. like one where infomorphs take on the appearance of and live the lives of protozoa. A recreation of the world of TRON for transhumans who remember the 1980's BF. Worlds where more than four dimensions are implemented (thus requiring patches to the users' brainstates, and all the risks thus incurred from running software gotten from strange places). Heck, even executing within a virtual where every user is a star, and the experiences have to do with sensing and interacting with gravity wells, radiation, momentum, and rarefied gases and dust in the void. Assignments from Firewall (or other adventures) do not necessarily have to involve conflict. With sufficiently poetic players, the journey to a meeting with a contact can be an experience all its own.

Re: Worlds within worlds
Why wouldnt those remade worlds inside the mesh resemble old earth, and for that matter, once people are inside the mesh, do they move around as icons of their original human form, some alteration of their current morph, or some altogether different avatar?

They very well could resemble old Earth, in potentially any time period or variation thereof (imagine living in a sim of the world of Kabuki for fun.) As I understand it, infomorphs could look like potentially anything, from hamster-sized Mandelbrot fractals to stick figures (Randall Munroe, is that you?) to photorealistic simulations of what you (think you) used to look like.

If CGL doesn't publish a book about Wireless worlds, I would be highly surprised. That being said if you started your own project ("Welcome to the Mesh" - A Guide to Virtual Habitats) and covered everything from the Hypercorp playworlds of the inner sphere, to simulation governments (to test a unique form of government before implementing it in the habitat where it could have catastrophic repercussions), to the various virtual Earths.

Re: Worlds within worlds
I have no doubt that there will be a Mesh sourcebook in the future, with both fluff and expanded rules for mesh characters (I love playing hackers in every game I get into, so this is something I really hope for). I have no doubt that we will get the skinny on how famed Mesh locales look and feel... hopefully with some new game info too (like costs to buy your own servers for custom Mesh locations, higher- and lower-end software, anodyne software for asyncs, and expanded tech options in general).

Much of these things are fairly easy to assume. The Jovian Forum likely is a very retro Mesh locale that resembles something of a senate. Religious themes might permeate it as well. As for the Fall-shocked MMO, I have no doubt that it resembles a pre-Fall Earth, perhaps even in its entirety built cooperatively by its members according to their memories. These may be inferred designs, but to me they seem rather obvious.
