If Argonauts, Socialites, and Reclaimers can each get a Rep and Network aimed at them, how about the other movements? Which Rep and Networking would be appropriate for Mercurials? Ultimates? Exhumans? Bioconservatives (those that are not Jovians)?
I'm thinking that the standard set of Reps and Networks doesn't really cover them, so how about some suggestions for names? In any of the writers/gamers want to throw in some official answers, that'll be great too.

Re: Which Rep and Networking for __________?
Most bioconservatives fall under C-rep, but I think it also fair to note that many bioconservative groups do not have a reputation network at all (most isolated stations). Mercurials mostly fall under EcoWave (as many uplifts desire a return to Earth) and the Circle-A list. Ultimates would primarily fall under Research Network Associates, but could potentially also fall under any other rep network.
Remember that reps are not exclusory values. Most people will build up scores in a few, many or possibly even all rep networks. The networks simply measure basic political aims or social cliques, and how specific individuals have furthered those aims or cliques. To that end, many of the examples you listed are macro-movements which do not necessarily have anything to do with a character's other political beliefs. Ultimates, for instance, take genetic darwinism to an extreme, but this has no bearing on whether they care about the ecology, or are autonomists, or are inner-system glitterati. The mercurial movement is about uplift and infolife civil rights, and is no more intrusive on their other beliefs than in any other instance where people facing discrimination demanded equal rights (in other words, not intrusive at all).

Re: Which Rep and Networking for __________?
Are you saying that because they don't have Reps and Networks of their own listed in the book that they shouldn't have them? Is this just to stick with what's in the book, or are you trying to say that these other factions really don't have their own Reps and Networks?
I do understand that these values are not exclusive - an uplift might have e-rep and still have m-rep (or whatever the Mercurials use among themselves), but I don't think that e-rep really covers the Mercurials too accurately. Likewise while there are both inner system and outer system Ultimates that typically use c-rep and @-rep respectively with their neighbors, shouldn't they have some form of 'u-rep' amongst all fellow Ultimates?

Re: Which Rep and Networking for __________?
No, I'm saying that you should create social networks for the movements where social networks seem most relevant. The seven existing ones are networks based on very broad categories, not narrow subgroups. @-rep and c-rep measures how known you are amongst either the autonomists or hypercorps... rendering both networks equivalent to "outer system notoriety" and "inner system notoriety". Ecowave represents every green movement there is, even if they might clash (nano-ecologists and preservationists, for example). Fame represents anyone who appears in or is behind any media. Guanxi is a network for every criminal. RNA is a network for every scientific organization or business dealing in research and development. These are all very broad networks (i-rep is a bit of a blacksheep, but in my games I converted it into a network for every covert ops organization).
If you know of another group that is broad enough to warrant such a network, I say go for it, but the ones you listed are fairly narrow subgroups. If they had a network, it would likely be a small one at best. To me, giving the ultimates a u-rep seems rather pointless, since the movement is fairly personal in concept (do you get rep for being the most social darwinistic and more into eugenics than everyone else?).

Re: Which Rep and Networking for __________?
I see where you're going. I guess I was taking i-rep as a precedent and trying to make it a standard for making reps for more narrow-focussed groups. Either way would work, but your way is actually easier on the skills and rep points since there are fewer but broader networks and reps.
BTW, did your version of i-rep have a different networking name since it applies to agencies outside of Firewall? Something like Networking: Spies or Networking: Intelligencers or perhaps even Networking: Spooks?

Re: Which Rep and Networking for __________?
That's largely the reason I did it the way I did. If you decide to do miniscule networks, I would recommend allowing players to use a networking skill similar to but for a broader network, perhaps with a mild penalty representing the slight differences. For example, if you decide to make a mercurial network, I would recommend that players with Networking: Autonomists or Networking: Ecologists can use that skill with a -10 penalty instead of having to get a Networking: Mercurials skill.
As for i-rep, I call the skill Networking: Intelligence, based on how Networking: Media is named (basically because they are opposites; one measures how famous you are among famous people, while the other measures how much of a ghost you are among ghosts). It also acts as the network for Project Ozma; while the two organizations probably don't stay in contact enough to have an actual unified social network, anything that you do for one agency is likely to be noticed by the other, thus increasing your popularity/notoriety with them similarly.

Re: Which Rep and Networking for __________?
Isn't that already the rule for Field skills? It's listed under Defaulting to Field Skills (EP page 173).

Re: Which Rep and Networking for __________?
In addition to Firewall and Project Ozma, do you extend i-rep/Networking: Intelligence to the intelligence networks of the regional powers (Jovians, Titanians, etc.)? I would think it could work out well to do so and it would be more appropriate than having the Jovian intelligence under c-rep/ Networking Hypercorps and Titanian intelligence under @-rep/Networking: Autonomists even though those are the reps/skills used for most of the public functions of those societies. This parallels the criminals and media aspects that transcend the normal networks of the 'local' societies they operate within.
Thanks for the input. I'll be very likely to switch over to using Networking: Intelligence with i-rep and expanding it beyond Firewall. This also allows for other options like having a Black Mark with a faction within i-rep (like Project Ozma) that were lacking when i-rep only covered Firewall.

Re: Which Rep and Networking for __________?
Well shit on me and call me a sundae... I'd never read that passage before. Is it sad that I completely passed it, or awesome that I would rule that independent of whether the book said it?
Basically, i-rep in my game has effectively become representative of the information that various intelligence groups pass to one another about agents (not necessarily their own agents, but you know that Ozma and the Hypercorp intelligence agencies are trading info on Firewall agents). The higher your score gets, the more various agencies will consider you either a prospective employee or a priority target. So yes, it does include clandestine agencies for other groups and in general. If you get blacklisted, think Burn Notice.
I agree, I found it rather odd that this wasn't how i-rep was handled in EP. Largest reason I changed it for my games. I'm glad it helped you out too.

Re: Which Rep and Networking for __________?
For what it's worth, I would go with the core book on this one, i.e. that the GM can make up new networks (p. 287). It makes a lot of sense that many identifiable group have their own networks. Such networks could be in respect of solar system wide groupings as well as isolated brinker habs.
Generally, I think the networks are way too large and encompassing. Would really Jovians have much in common with Lunars and why would Titanians share a network with Barsoomians? For purposes of game mechanics I can accept this, but as I will mainly roleplay (or at least not use dice) in my games I will use common sense.
PS: Good thoughts on i-rep. I will nick them right off and use in my game.

Re: Which Rep and Networking for __________?
When I tried to make a list of everything that could conceivably have a rep network, I ended up with like 15 or 20 of them, which was too many. So instead we put in the really big ones and left it to GMs to create smaller ones as needed. We'll keep using the broad ones defined in Core in published products, but I'd encourage GMs to subdivide these as useful for their games. The thing is, you could end up running an entire campaign where the PCs were heavily involved with Outer System Mercurials and never needed CivicNet at all. In a situation like that, tune the available networks to your group's expected focus.
