Traveler Guide For Mars: distance and transportation

hi, Folks! I'm working on a game adventure for EP set on Mars The mission given to the players is to escort a vip physically from Hellas to Valles New Shanghai on G-Earth, I could see the shortest is going West, but I can't say how far it is from one place to the other? From East to West (Hellas to Valles New Shanghai straight) or West to East (via Elysium City, Olympus, and all the stop on the M1 Also, beside the roads described in Sunward, are there other roads (highways or routes), maglev (or good old rail trains) going from Hellas to other places. while the distance is the question I need a reply to, I'd like to hear your though on the other as well.

Quincy: There are probably lot's of highways that are not on my map. The problem is there's indirect reference in the text but I don't know where they are.

So apparently you can actually drive, a ground car, on roads, from NewShanghai to Hellas. Which is the equivelent of driving from LA to Vietnam, or Vancouver to Bogota. There's, apparently, a railroad from Elysium to Hellas:

Which is why I left that little tail comming off the Hellas Loop Hwy pointing directly at Elysium. And the most confusing one:

This one I just don't get. It would make sense if there had been a highway that ran from Hellas to Quirain before the TITANs got it but I don't see how there would be two highways from Hellas, to both Elysium and Quirain. You'd either run a spur from the Hellas/Elysium over to Quirain or you'd run the road through Quirain then up to Elysium. In which case it would be cut off like the M4. Anyhow, I'm stumped. The map languishes due to my indecisiveness.

wow! thanks, Trik! you rock! as it happens, the Portemanteau Rangers are the ones that inspired me the M-66 Dantes' Road that I wrote about in The Eye you provided me great help for my adventure! I'll make sure to mention you in the crowdsourcing credits! on the map, do you think you could add Anyang in North West Hellas?

Anyang? Is that a reference in the text to an actual town??? If it is I'll definitely add it. The only reference to settlements in hellas I'm aware of currently is something about "A dozen small towns" Are there any other small towns you want listed? I'd like to get all the small towns listed and marked on the map on the 5100 dpi version you should be able to blow it up to look at a 10° grid without too much pixelation. Let me know what you think about the track of the roads leading from Hellas too if you get time. I'm hesitant put it out there alone because I don't want to influence peoples games in a way that might break cannon later. But I could stand with a consensus of two. :) Oh one thing: there is a reference to pilsener city in Hellas. I've ignored it as a mistake but if you like you could say there are two on Mars.

Anyan is a canon city of EP it's the setting of the adventure Ego Hunter I asked Rob and Graham, and they said it's precise location is left to the GM discretion, as well as the general look of the city. After brainstorming with myself, and looking for martian pics on the web, I located a good place for it, in the hills of Coronae Scopulus, on the North West of Hellas [img]http://www.astrosurf.com/alphacentaure/mars/5.jpg[/img] the space between those two hills/montains offers a good place to built a dome. Both offer good protection against storms and a ready structure to build the dome. Silicates and Nickel inside would give good resources and the hills/mountains themselves offers good place for underground plants such as energy plants and life support
