Pfft, you guys have been listening to too much propaganda. The TITANS were just trying to save us in their own special way or else why would they bother taking the heads... Those minds are probably re sleeved in godlike morphs at the end of a Pandora gate with the TITANS gently nurturing them as a super civilization with Psi Powers that make the Asynchs look like the prototype rejects that they are. Tsk, I don't see why everyone is making them out to be the bad guys, they probably averted mutual assured destruction and ended up saving Humanity from itself.

The return of the TITANs is as inadvertant as their original corruption. Certain religious cults begin to rise up with recovered TITAN artifacts as central sacrament relics in their belief system. What normal people would see as suicidal brainwashing, the cults view as the path to the secrets of the universe. They come to view the Basalisk Hacks that they are subjecting themselves too as a form of supernatural enlightement from the universe. They don't see exsurgent infection as a plague but as a gift. It is a form of "The Truth" of which all of the infected and those who were abducted are considered martyrs and saints rather than victims. Initially, they are written off as extremist ecoterrorists with a dangerously radical bioconservative bent so long as their true nature and influence is unknown. Central to their teaching is the idea that the TITANs were a form of divine punishment on humanity for its hubris and that the universe was purging itself by sending this plague on humanity through the gates. Charismatic teachers within the movement who have come totally under the sway of the TITAN devices come to see this work as incomplete because the respite that humanity has been mercifully granted has not sufficiently improved the species as it was intended to do. Soon, more and more cultists use the gates to go on the spiritual journey that they believe the TITANs took. They return with prophecies and obscure instructions that cause the communities to believe that the TITANs want these cults to continue the work that The Fall only started. They eagerly congregate in the quarentene zones and begin working to gather and improve the TITAN technology that they have. They come to see their role as unleashing the final appocolypse where the worthy will receive the exsurgent enlightement as they have and that the unworthy will be destroyed in a final great cataclysm. As the strength of the cults increase and their travels outside the systems increase, they draw the attention of the distant TITANs and fall completely under their direction. One day transhumanity is happy bickering at each other about bioconservatism and capitalism, and the next day, the various cells and groups unleash "The Truth" on every settlement that they have infiltrated. System-wide virus infections brain wash and kill millions in zombie-like uprisings while nanoswarms are unleashed by the cults against the most sinful habitats. The attacks are perfectly coordinated as the entire doomsday cult is linked by singular purpose and abilities. Significant numbers of people begin manifesting psi-sleights and the entire society begins to collapse from the inside out. The TITANs don't so much return as they are reconstituted and released by a covert army of zealous, nutjob puppets. It's Jamestown and 9/11 times 1 million.
