I am an aspiring indi-dev in the middle of teaching myself to program complete games, and will be working on an ASCII rogue like space adventure game; though I am finding myself having to choose between planning a unique environment or just adopting a pre-existing one and saving myself the effort for actual game design...
Recently I found Eclipse Phase, oddly enough a year after I read "The Singularity is Near" and was carried away by the idea of a Trans-human future. So I was wondering if anyone would mind if I based my game world on the rough events of Eclipse Phase?
I realize that the work is published under an open source creative commons license, and I could do it if I wanted, so long as it remains non-commercial. But I have half a mind to eventually open up the possibility of donations, and was wondering how that would jive?
Of course, I would be linking/crediting all my work with Eclipse Phase, and Posthuman Studios.
Also, this is all still in the brain storming phase. I just wanted to test the waters before diving in.

FYI: I was inspired by ASCIISector and its adaptation of the Privateer universe. Though my game will not be a space trader/shooter but more of a Dwarf Fortress type game where the player takes on the universe and all its dangers and tries to thrive.

I would definitely be interested. My favorite roguelike of all time was a mecha sci-fi game called Gearhead, and it's about time someone made another in the genre. Bonus points because it can help promote Eclipse Phase.
