The Thing
The void dancer morph discussion helped to create one of my typical characters, the flying sniper, but now I'm working on my other character type, the multi-part machine empath. Yeah I'm trying to bring my Abberant (and other games) character into EP. Why I'm calling this morph the Thing is because I'm exploring a biomorph that can break down into autonomous units, while still the whole being human shaped. I know Flexbots are made of components, and of course swarmoids. But I'm wanting to explore async abilites, which require a biological body. I like the idea of sending your hand off to manipulate one control station, while the rest of you are at another. I'm rereading the section on async abilities now, so I see this topic as a work in progress.

Re: The Thing
Well took a long read of the Mind Hacks chapter, and didn't find anything specifically called machine empathy, but some of the psi-chi traits will do. First off a little background on the character; professionally he is a kinetic artist, designing and building things from small toys, to putting on large scale chaotic smashemup displays. He is well known and lives rather comfortably. After he gained his powers he was able to have greater control over machines, and also had the ability to detach parts of his body to do remote actions. This was an Abberant character, but now wanting to bring him to EP. I'm going to start with an Exalt morph, and discuss what the exsurgent virus did to let him come apart. One other thing is a piece of gear that the character had that I want this one to have as well. The character carries a cane, not that he needed one, but instead to make an appearance. The shaft of the cane would be made out of a strong light material, but the knob is a nanotech creation that the character made, the Stainless Steel Rose. The petals of the rose would make it more of a monofilament mace, but the character can hold it without being hurt. Back to the psi-chi abiliites and why I think they will work for the machine empathy skill I was wanting; Enhanced Creativity - He had artistic ability before, but now he sees things a whole lot differently. This was from his Abberant Jester attitude, because during his eruption he had discovered the solution to the problem he was working on, and saw the cosmic joke underneath it all. Grok - Is the biggest part of machine empathy, as getting an idea how to work something, without knowing how it works that way. While the character will have the ability to engineer mechanisms, he will also be able to understand new items, almost as if they tell him what they do. Instinct & Qualia - Abilities to act quickly, optional, but used to bolster the Grok trait. Multitasking - This has more to do with the character being a biological flexbot, as I forsee the character operating one console, with his hand in another room working another.
