Terraformed Mars
A conception of an ancient and/or future Mars, flush with oceans, clouds and life. I know Mars in EP hasn't been terraformed this far yet, but you can get some gorgeous, fairly hi-res artistic renderings of a blue mars done by software engineer Kevin Gill. Download the images here: https://docs.google.com/folder/d/0B5gEWNRhmLMTYkEyR3FQY2pjRVk/edit See his explanation here: https://plus.google.com/113761354606401247247/posts/K8RQu5xu3EH I don't plan on using them other than as inspiration and maybe desktop backgrounds, but I can think of four scenarios where you might use them, two which are dramatic changes to the setting: 1) Mars terraforming is dramatically (and likely catastrophically for the inhabitants) accellerated (Titans, aliens, one of the more extreme factions having gotten hold of some Titan, or equivalent, tech) 2) The player characters are frozen or stored and emerge in the future... Less dramatic: 3) These are renderings done by a faction that plans to accellerate the terraforming of Mars at any cost 4) A virtual reality sim set on future Mars.

Nice looking pictures. But it takes a lot of ice to bring that much water to Mars - I suspect one or two moons of Saturn have disappeared to make that ocean.

Good point. Although perhaps it would be easier to transport hydrogen from Jupiter and make H2O through the Sabatier process. I only just discovered this process thanks to wikipedia, but it involves the reaction of hydrogen with carbon dioxide (Martian atmosphere) at elevated temperatures (optimal 300-400 °C) and pressures in the presence of a nickel catalyst to produce methane and water (CO2 + 4H2 → CH4 + 2H2O), http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sabatier_reaction I'm not sure how feasible this would be to create the amount of water needed to flood mars, but I think it would mean you could create oxygen at the same time.

OK a bit off topic but in the same category. Is there anywhere to get pics like this of an Earth that is either more dry as in some kind of calamity or more flooded as in climate change/global warming?
"And yet, across the gulf of space, minds immeasurably superior to ours regarded this Earth with envious eyes. And slowly, and surely, they drew their plans against us."

Reminds me of Kim Stanley Robinson's Mars trilogy. Although in his books most of Mars' water is under the rocks and brought to the surface via terraforming and man-made disasters
