https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vhjimhX9d5U Has anyone else watched this film? It reminded me strongly of Eclipse Phase, although there were quite a few moments where I found myself shaking my fist at the screen.
As mind to body, so soul to spirit. As death to the mortal man, so failure to the immortal. Such is the price of all ambition.

Yeah, fist-shaking moment #1
Yeah, fist-shaking moment #1 was the groan-worthy special agent intro to the protagonist. "Beaner?" Really? Ugh. I know he was trying to goad the guy, but he didn't need to hit that note on the road to the actually quite funny "face that looks like dog shit" line. But the whole movie, overall, was really good. The concept was awesome, well executed for a low budget dealy, and yeah...it gave me some ideas for Eclipse Phase, for sure. A spoiler of the ending of the film in the comment below!
Spoiler: Highlight to view
I like that the villains were both essentially of a piece in terms of where they're coming from/goals and also that they're both totally not the threat that everyone thinks they are...although in each case, in order to accomplish their goals which have good intentions, they have to do some "ends justify the means" evil stuff...ah, the misunderstood genius as villain. So tropey, yet so often done wrong where actually everyone understood right all along that they were idiots and evil. It's always nice to see the trope done right, with the villain actually having been forced to do what he did because he was misunderstood. Sort of. I mean, the human villain was kind of still a dick.
