I was just wondering about something...
Do average "J. Norman Normal" Flat NPCs have an average stat in the 6-10 range? (Jovian average citizens or non-genefixed Fall evacuees.)
If so, when/if they upgrade to splicers or synthmorphs, would their stats naturally appreciate towards the 11-15 range as an automatic result of joining the transhuman community, or do they need to spend Rez to develop it like anyone else would?

Re: Stats For The Unfortunate
They will hay to spend Rez. But remember that almost all other morphs have some kind of bonus, so if someone has a 6 it may become an eleven or even a 15, and it wil change the average of the stats

Re: Stats For The Unfortunate
Right. What I referred to was ego stats, since a flat-born ego is likely to be inferior than one that has full access to transhuman improvements.

I don't see why. If you put an ego of a human and start to give him enhancment, you get a transhuman. The ego shouldn't be too different from a normal human than from a transhuman (in the same era), except for the implants of the transhuman, and the implants are in the body (or because of the body) no in the ego.

Re: Stats For The Unfortunate
Hm. The "human average" is one range lower than "transhuman average," which would imply that flats without access to whatever the hell makes PCs start with an average COG/SOM/etc 15 as compared to the unfixed human's 10 would be, on average, weaker in the ego; an average splicer just increases one stat by +5, not all of them.
I may be misinterpreting what whoever wrote that line meant, of course, but if so, I'm curious as to just what the difference actually is.

Re: Stats For The Unfortunate
yeah, but you are counting only the morph. There is plenty of stuffs beside the body. And other thing, when they put that table, probably human is talking about a 20 century person who is less smart, strong, etc in his own ego, just as we are healthier, smarter and faster than the romans.
The flat is still transhuman anyhow, has better acces to medicine, food, health, etc. than the 20 cent. human

Re: Stats For The Unfortunate
Access to resources has nothing to do with transhumanity. Transhumanity is about redefining the concept of "human" to be external to species.Transhumans are related to, but not essentially, human as we define it today. In that same vein, while flats are definitively human, and splicers could very well be the upper limit of the human species' potential, most other morphs are decidedly outside the classification of homo sapien.

Re: Stats For The Unfortunate
Yes, but this re concept is a concept based in technology, in redefining the "humanity" trough technology. The transhumanity is not born through evolution as it happens before, when we came from homo habilis to homo sapiens and then to homo sapiens sapiens. The big step forward happens at the social levels with the integration of humanity with they creations. Are the smarters? yeah, totally, as we are compared to classic greeks, but that is not what created the TH, it was technology.

Re: Stats For The Unfortunate
Actually, evolution is still going to be a factor. Rather then the natural selection of random mutation, it will come by the trial and error of manufactured genetics. It's still evolution.
That said, it's an irrelevant analogy. Transhumanity extends beyond humans because what we define as people in such a scenario extends beyond its current form. Humanity as we define it today is only synonymous with sapience and consciousness because we the only race we know of to have it. Once you add AI, uplifts, or even aliens, the concept of humanity as we label it today will have to be relabeled.
Hence transhumanity.
