I just thought I'd share something interesting with you all. Given the amount of discussion of music with EP, and the recent release of Gatecrashers, I thought this might be interesting to provide you with:
Dinosaursounds and Spacesounds.
There are also links to Whalesounds and Stormsounds in the buttons at the bottom left, both of which have similar sorts of soundscapes.
I provide these to you because these repeating soundscapes are perfect if you want to give players something to set the scene for where they are, or to just get yourself in the right mindset for the game. It's one thing to step out onto a frozen moon of a gas giant, it's another entirely to have your player's muses inform them of radio distortion... And then follow that up with the crackling growl of Jupiter's magnetosphere for effect. Dinosaursounds, of course, is perfect for exoplanets with alien life on it too, and Stormsounds is great for anywhere there's strong winds or rain (just make sure you don't use the Monsoon, it has cars in it).
Plus, if you want, you can mix them. Got your players out near the Sun? Start out with the sun's heartbeat, and then throw in some whalesong as the Suryas start making themselves known.
So, yeah, just thought I'd share that with all of you.
The nihilistic bad guy in my plots lives on a circumsolar habitat/blind AGI/antennae that uses the sun's pulse and neutrino output to compose a song to broadcast to possible first-contact locations where no Gates have yet been discovered. Now I have some idea what it sounds like, which helps when I write him, so thanks.Axel the Chimeric: f-rep++; @-rep++
