Hi Chaps,
I'm looking at running a game for one player (my wife) and have been scouring the books for a way to make this viable.
My first thought is add an infomorph in a Ghostrider Module. It's something I can play and should be very useful in a lot situations. I was wondering if anyone has tried a one player game and if so, has any thoughts or suggestions?
The rule clarification (if I have the right of it). Can an infomorph character in a Ghostrider Module shell jam a robot if they have access to their host's mesh inserts? I can't see anything that says not. I ask for this particular game idea as I can see real uses!
Cheers,
H++

Just a quick suggestion: why don't you play the character's muse instead of a separate infomorph? You do not need a separate ghostrider module, just the mesh inserts, which can host one ego (that can certainly jam a robot).

Thanks babayaga. It's certainly a consideration.
I have some story ideas involving an infomroph travelling with the primary character (my wife is completely taken with The Lost). It doesn't really matter if the infomorph can't as you have now pointed out to me that the Muse can. I would still like to know just to sate my curiosity but I can move a few steps forward in my game design now.
Thanks!

I run a 1-player game with my wife. (Warning - stay away from forking! It will drive you as GM mad.)
The assumption I operate under is all modules are made so they can be networked, unless that is specifically forbidden for some reason. By default, a ghostrider module permits little or no activity on the part of the passenger, but there's no reason those limitations can't be turned off, and the module networked into your personal area network so the rider can muck-about with anything requiring only mental commands to operate.

Because a Ghostrider Module, by default, can have access to a users Mesh Inserts I see no reason at all that they would not be able to jam a Synth. Jamming is a Mental/Mesh action, and all it essentially is, is remote controlling a robot while in an advanced VR sim, which an Infomorph can do.
If you want to be a bit stingy I guess you could say that each Mesh Insert can only handle a single Jammer at once, but then you could just buy a second set of Mesh Inserts and only wire them to the Ghostrider. The only benefit this would have would be making it more expensive for a person who wants to have an army of Guardian Angels at their beck and call, controlled by Beta forks living in a persons Ghostrider Modules (Which just so happens to be what my character does in one of my games :D)

for a ghostriding infomorph to be able to jam a morph, said morph must be equipped with a puppet-sock module, otherwise, the informorph is just a relatively passive passenger.
that said some paranoid people have forks of themself, duely pruned, installed in a ghostrider module, acting as their muse, so there might be some level of interaction possible

Hmm? A Ghostrider is passive in that it has no control over the Morph it resides in, but that doesn't mean it is completely passive. It can still be granted access to the persons Mesh Inserts (And the Gear section suggests that they normally are) as well as the full sensorium that the Morph has. In fact if you let it do so the Ego living in the Ghostrider can have direct access to your thoughts. Or am I confusing what you mean by passive, instead meaning that it cannot really do anything to influence the owner of the Morph other than asking nicely?

My initial question was for shell-jamming robots (being able to use 'bots for specific things but having a more intimate level of control). But now it's been flagged, yes, can an infomorph shell jam a morph if said morph has a puppet sock?

A Ghostriding InfoMorph follows all the standard rules for Jamming. As such they are fully capable of jamming a BioMorph, as long as that BioMorph is equipped with a Puppet Sock. The full rules for jamming can easily be found starting on (Page 196 CORE). The only time the Ghostrider would not be able to perform jamming as an action would be if the Morph it is risiding within fully restricted access to the Mesh Inserts.

Thanks guys. As you have all mainly posted what I thought to be true - it looks like my answer is yes, as long as the host morph is allowing access to mesh inserts.

the latter part, actually. it's not dead storage either, unless the bloke who carries the GR module is one mean son of a bitch!
*ponders*mhhh deadstorage in ghostrider module....*takes note* whaaat?
re the solo adventure: I would think some deep undercover stuff, or intrepid reporter. or maybe an XP adventurer with a little drone following her.
And that opens a world of possibilities. several worlds, even
A solo world tour in Mars' deserts, on a sail airship around Venus in a sylph or neotenic morph -like that chick from the Netherlands gone alone around the world at 14-
or going alone gatecrashing on a jungle exoplanet and meet the locals with all transhuman arrogance and hubris and being brought down a peg by local handsome hunter. Or looking to verify legends in remote regions...

Try using a whiteboard or mind mapping software to keep track of forks and their associated actions (or task lists - we find those work better than trying to run each fork separately).
Oh, and have lots of fun with critical failures incurred by forks. :)
