Ship & Habitat Size Comparison
I've been working on this for a little while and I thought it could prove useful for visualizing some of the places in the game. Added some ship designs I've been toying with.

Here is a tip. When doing scanning work of sketches. if you are absolutely satisfied with them prescan go over it with a fie tipped sharpie and erase stray pencil marks. the sharp black will stand out and with work like this the absence of strays will make things a lot clearer

Thanks for the tip. :)
Thanks for the tip. :) Admittedly, I'm not terribly familiar with posting pictures ( these are my first) and obviously art is not my strong suit, so any advice is appreciated.

Very handy. I've never looked at all of these places side by side like this before! (Which is funny to think about in hindsight, given I dreamt up like half of them!).

Wow, thanks! I hope that they match up to your ideas fairly well. I generally tried not to put much personal interpretation to the statistics. Which is why Octavia doesn't have it's outriggers. However, for some places like The Shack and Locus - oh brother,Locus!- it was unavoidable.

I'm just impressed you were able to draw a good diagram of Locus from the chapter text... because I wrote a fucking story problem there. :) Probably, there should've been a chart with that one.

Hey there:
Hey there: 1. This is pretty sweet. 2. Where did you get the dimension figures from for the craft like the bulk carrier? I see they match Anders Sandberg's naval strategy paper, but now I'm wondering if these are canonical figures that I just failed to notice, or figures derived on forum discussions. Well, I'm searching the forums now, reading through the discussions, but it's a bit slow going.

Thank you!
This thread: http://eclipsephase.com/space-naval-combat-segway-antimatter-thread?page... About midway through jsnead drops the figures he calculated for the ships. It's like 2nd Xmas and practically makes the thread worth money in my book! Glad you like the pictures:). I've been thinking of upgrading to actual art instead of boxes but I'm not that good :$ I'm currently toying with some of the planetary cities: Nyhavn, Aarhus, Nectar, even Valles-New Shanghai, but they're tougher since there's more information needed than presented.

Quick update, I've added a few locations that didn't have size stats . Hope the numbers I've used seem reasonable. :) Edit: It occurs to me that giving the reasons for the sizes I used would be useful. Titan Cities: The dome of Nyhavn is described as being "several kilometers" across. Lacking anything better, I chose seven as a good sized dome. The smaller domes of New København and Telemark city use the same dome size as Aarhus and New Quebec. I figure that there are two dome sizes - 1.5 km and 7 km built using a modular shield wall mold and prefabricated buildings and dome . I'll resist the temptation to make an IKEA Dömê joke here . Most cities are built using the 1.5, repeated as required. Only Great Nyhavn uses the 7 for a dome, usually just the wall is built around a skyport. Old Nyhavn being the smallest I used 800 meters as a fair sized starting point. Progress : Getting a good size for Progress was hard! For one, it's got a large population and is described as "one of the largest " Cole bubbles in the Solar system. After trying a lot of rather large sizes I settled on one that wasn't much larger than Deimos already is. Basically it came down to numbers that were divisible by 6- 12 km diameter at the midsection and 10 km diameter at the poles with a length of 18km. On a purely aesthetic matter, I made the windows a series of long rectangles to fit the "cut into the side of the cylinder" description. This leaves the center third "beltway" intact for the Consortium HQ. I put a 1 km dock based on the sphere at Selene at either end - and called the dock at the Tangles side of the habitat the Marina because you know it going to be full of hypercorp status symbols . Aspis, Qing Long & Solano : In Sunward both Remembrance and Qing Long are described as the largest O'Neill cylinder in the Solar system. Since we have dimensions for Remembrance I kept that biggest in total, and made Qing Long the largest [em] single [/em] cylinder in existence. Solano has a diameter of 30 km and if it followed most cylinders conventions of a 1 to 4 or 5 diameter to length ratio it would be a match to the Long Array! So, to be appropriately huge yet give Aspis room to be longer I made it 100 km long. Speaking of Aspis, to make it the longest habitat ever built without being the largest it would have to be relatively narrow at 3 km and each of the six segments at 20 km making it 120 km total - comfortably huge but not longer than Long Array!
