A room with a view.
Maybe I just missed this in the pdf, but what if any kind of living quarters do starting charecters get? 1 room flat? coffin sized sleeping cube with storage drawer? Where is my Fury keeping all her ju- I mean gear i her off time?

I'm going to assume that in space based habitats, that unless you are rich or well connected that you have a single room modular living space (a la "5th element") about 8x10 maybe. All folding or hide-a-way funiture/apliences/storage. Something exceptional individuals (like PCs) would probably fill up pretty quick with stored equipment (as opposed to the average wage slave who doesn't really need any specialized equipment like guns, armor, tools, and other sundries.)

'course, exceptional individuals like PCs are probably rich or well-connected. In an autonomist hab, you probably have a pretty high rep; in a hypercorp, anyone who owns their own fury morph is a top-o-the-line mercenary.

They could also be a case of "This is what we had available...but, you know, it has all these advantages over your old Splicer.."

"These same members of the elite live in luxurious villas and mansions, and in a few cases privately-owned asteroids, while most other people must make do with a few hundred cubic meters of dwelling space." page 39 core rule book Okay just spotted this in the core pdf. a 10m x 10m x 2.5m cube (i'm assuming a 2.5 meter ceiling) comes out to 250 cubic meters. That is about the size of a 2 bedroom apartment (30' x 30' roughly not exact.) so not bad.

It sounds like that might be an estimate of the average volume of living quarters on ground and space. I really dont see many people living in 100m^3 on a Scum Barge unless their rep is 60+

If you were a synthmorph you could get by with a just a broom closet (ala Futurama). At the end of the day you just back into the closet, close the door, and run your virtual townhouse in your head.

Ooh, this raises a valid point. Given the fact that anyone with basic mesh inserts can access a simulspace (p241) with none of the alienation and integration problems associated with uploading or resleeving, it's easily possible that closet living could be sustainable. Given that subscription to a simulspace only costs Moderate/month, it wouldn't be trickly, really... particularly when you take into account that simulspace living would decrease offline luxury expenses somewhat. I could imagine entire habitats living this way.

And AR, the poor man's simulspace, would work almost as well.

I imagine this is what you get when your background is Re-Instated. You've just spent your very last cred on buying the smallest room available. The sad part is when you realise you don't have enough to buy that virtual townhouse just yet :P at least Swarmanoids have it easy, they can live like this in an even smaller room. Long-term storage locker? Of course, living space isn't just about what you need. Certainly isn't nowadays and I don't think that'll change AF.
