After reading through the bug report thread I decided to take things into my own hands a little and start editing the data.txt to fix some of the issues (The mismatched names of Neurachem and Bioweave Armour, as well as the lack of costs displayed on Traits).
However after reading through the license (albeit not very thoroughly) I can't seem to find any mention of what you can do with data.txt, so I wanted to clarify: Am I allowed to distribute my edited file? And if so, is it limited to just my gaming group? Or can I post it on the forums too?

from the mid 2000's to around 2009the legal status of modification of video games was very much a gray area. Very few EULA mentioned modding at all but there was a potential overlap with copyright. More than one modification has been pulled down by a publisher seeking to protect there IP. starting around 2009 though publishers saw the light and saw how modding kept slaes going longer and built larger fan bases for their games and stopped the crack down.

As long as you don't sell it.
As long as you don't sell it.
It falls under the current Creative Commons share alike license that all PS+ products use.

Our content is CC licensed, yes. However, Singularity itself, just to be clear, isn't CC licensed. Our dev, Snowdog Labs, reserves certain rights. Please read the Licensing folder in your distro for more information.
CC licenses, btw, can't be used to license software. Which is too bad, because the CC license is so simple, as a creator, to implement.

Hmm... It occurs to me that my comment above did not give a straight, up or down answer to your question, i.e., are we OK with you forking data.txt and distributing it non-commercially?
I personally don't see a problem, but I'm going to need to consult my partners & Snowdog before giving a definitive answer. Sorry, please hold. :)

Oh hai, there's a data.txt in the other thread already. Sorry, didn't notice that.
Carry on, then. I don't think it'll be an issue. :)

Or if it does turn out to be an issue - I don't think anyone would mind if you posted it back to PS+ for passing along to the developer so they can get the fix in?

Thank you guys for the replies. :D
If it becomes an issue, I'm happy to take it down and just send it into PS+ to do what they want with it. For now though, I'll be maintaining the other thread as other issues pop up and hopefully keeping up an unofficial update of the data file.

No one had any objections to the fan data.txt fork. Knock yourself out.

To add the arbitrary 'Me too'...
One of the original reasons data.txt was an external text-based file was to make it a little easier for fans to modify and reshare it. As far as I'm concerned, fan-made data files are strictly awesome. :)
