Quick question about the change to blackjack-style mechanics.
I'm wondering if there was a specific reason that it was changed to (Highest number under TN is best) instead of just modifying the old opposed system (You know, instead of... whoever rolls higher wins... you just make the change to... whoever rolls lower and has the best MoS - still using old rules of TN minus roll equals MoS - wins). Was it for less math? What I guess I'm trying to ask is... what do ya'll think the pros and cons of both are? Just curious, honestly. [Edit]: I don't much care either way, I was just wondering if there was some debate somewhere and such. Even if the mechanics of the game were... Punch the Person (in real life) and if they flinch, you succeed - I'd still love the game and would still play it (How would an online play for that work, though?)...

Re: Quick question about the change to blackjack-style ...
I can't speak as to the reasons that the developers decided to use the Blackjack method, but I was the one who suggested it's use. My reasons for suggesting it were simply that it is more consistent with the rules for opposed rolls (which are won by the person who rolls highest), and it also removes the need for an additional mental subtraction for every roll (because the number you roll is your margin of success). So yeah, speed and consistency. I also happen to believe there's something psychologically more exciting with trying to roll a big number but still stay under the target number, compared to just trying to roll a low number. So yeah, more fun too !
