I'm a new player to EP and my first character is to be a psi-user. However one thing that has not been made clear in the handbook (from my reading at least) is how strain, wounds and maximum strain works.
"If the damage points suffered from strain exceed
the character’s Wound Threshold, they may inflict a
wound just like other damage"
Does this mean that it is only during each use of a sleight when receiving strain, you have a chance of obtaining a wound if the strain is too much? Or does it mean that once the strain has accumulated (stacked with multiple sleight-use) beyond that of your wound threshold, you get a wound? Is there a separate track for strain damage and regular physical damage? From some source I cannot find again at the moment they said that strain durability is the same as regular damage durability (but separate). But I don't believe that to have been official source.
Example:
- User uses sleight
- User takes 4 strain
- User uses second sleight
- User takes 5 strain
- Does the user take wound damage now if their damage threshold was 7 since the total strain is 9?
- How much more strain could be received?

Per page 207 of the core,
Per page 207 of the core, wounds are only taken when the DV you receive meets or exceeds your would threshold. Any time your character receives damage you compare that damage to your threshold. So, if your would threshold is 9 and you take two attacks, first dealing 6 DV and the second dealing 5 DV, you would not have a wound as your threshold was not exceeded by either attack.

Already aware of this. The question is about strain and wounds. Main question being about maximum strain.

From page 223:

There doesn't appear to be a 'maximum strain'. If you're trying to find a limit to how many sleights you can use the answer appears to be until you pass out from the damage you inflict to yourself.

Also, I think you're thinking of strain as something besides damage, which might be the root of the confusion. A sleight has a strain value equal to 1d10/2 DV (rounded up), modified by the sleight used (also page 223). So, that being said, you don't accumulate strain, per say, but damage when you use a sleight.

Hmm. I noted this down as a possibility before, but thought it was quite excessive. Since using a strain even once after taking damage in combat would be extremely risky. The sourcebook really doesn't do a very good job clarifying this.
