Questions about Battlesuit rules
I'm having a bit of trouble with the rules for battlesuits. Looking on the forum I've seen a couple of threads addressing questions about them but I haven't found any relevant to my inquiries. The battlesuit itself is classified as a "walker" which is a form of vehicle, and it has its own set of hit points. These two factors would lead me to assume that when a character in a battlesuit is being attacked, the battlesuit is the thing that is taking damage, leaving the character inside relatively unharmed. But then we have the issue of the cumulative armour. It says that characters in a battlesuit are allowed to wear armour so long as neither of the armour values (energy or kinetic) exceed 4. This armour is cumulative with the battlesuit without incurring layering penalties, this leads me to assume that the person inside the battlesuit is the one receiving damage, as armour worn under the battlesuit would do nothing to protect it; in the same way a bulletproof vest worn under a shirt does nothing to protect the shirt from harm. One possibility I thought of is that maybe the battlesuits own durability rating really only apply when it's being piloted remotely? Clearly I'm missing something and this may become a point of contention between me and my players relatively soon, any help would be appreciated.

As houserule the armor take
As houserule the armor take damage, when damage is enought various function stop work, when damage is 75% or more it acts only as armor. the personal armor is used only outside, we consider that the worn armor must be light (4/4) for proper operation of the suit.. my trooper use morph armor alone, can be more but we agree thtat don't matter, no armored synt are allowed to use battlesuit (is silly to have a walking combat robot inside another for abuse the rules).

Technically its a vehicle -
Technically its a vehicle - so no different than a car. Check up on the vehicle combat rules. So it provides the -30 cover bonus, and if the cover bonus blocks the shot, the walker (cover) takes the damage to its hit points (minus its armor). If the wearer is hit, the battlesuit armor still counts - as written the vehicle takes no damage in this case. If you roll 30 under the number modified by the cover bonus/penalty - or a critical, you bypass the armor entirely. EDIT: I goofed - the MoS 30+ bypassing armor only applies if you are doing a called shot (otherwise it is on a crit only - not you can use Moxie to turn a regular hit into a crit), which is a -10 mod itself. The targeting passengers in a vehicle is on pg. 196. From that it seems a vehicle never takes damage if it is the passengers are targetted. So that was a goof too. I'd probably houserule that cover (and by extension vehicles providing cover) can take damage.

ok but don't make sense, if
ok but don't make sense, if you are inside a spaceship that is a veicle and someone shot can't hit you. a battlesuit is the same, by definition cover completly the user, make sense use something about -50 cover... we usually consider critical to bypass battlesuit armor and hit the user that use his armor

"Spacecraft have few stats in Eclipse Phase, as they are primarily handled as setting rather than vehicles." pg 346 A full -30 cover bonus doesn't make sense for motorcycles and rocket packs, either, and its not specifically mentioned. A GM will have to decide what each cover situation merits. Hopefully that decision isn't a bad one.
