Possibility of Liquid Oceans Within Saturn's Moon, Enceladus
Because we're finding water in a potentially liquid state everywhere now it seems. I like the fact that the water is laced with ammonia, methanol, and various salts and therefore acts as its own anti-freeze. http://blogs.discoverychannel.co.uk/discovery-news/2009/07/saturns-moon-...

Aside from the obvious life
Aside from the obvious life implications, it reminds me of the 2010 novel, watery moons would be a great place to grab some cheap volitile propellent (at least until something comes out objecting strongly to you using their home as a Chevron).

Yeah, I was just reading
Yeah, I was just reading about this in Science et Avenir (French Scientific American-type magazine) today. Unfortunately, the results from Cassini pointing this way (geysers!) came back well after I'd submitted the writeup for Enceladus. If it turns out to be true, I guess we'll have to fix this in EP: 2nd Ed. ;)

That... or it was of such
That... or it was of such strategic value that it's been hidden from general transhumanity (and for the characters to discover)! Or maybe there is something there that warrented ensuing date from Cassini's find would be "lost"...
