Population Maps for the Solar System
I've updated my old Population map with the information presented in Rimward. [s]Here is the new version.[/s] Edit: Updated and final. And you can compare it to the old version Here In the old version I had decided to generate the settlement sizes by using the volume of a sphere to distort and allow really small habitats to compete with larger settlements. In the new version each pixel is 250 Egos and where I could get specific settlement sizes I simply calculated the area of a circle, with the exception of Titan because it is such a huge percentage of Saturn's population. Basically in the new map what you see is what you get, and Mars really is the center of the Transhuman universe and when the Planetary Consortium gave up control of Venus to the Morningstar Constellation to focus on terraforming mars it was like trading a city for a planet.

Uranus and Neptune
That's really cool kindalas. I agree with the distribution, but have a problem with the number of egos. Due to the file's size of 1,400 pixels by 1,400, and each pixel is 2,500 egos, I take it that you assume there are near 5 billon egos in solar? I always worked with the assumption of five-hundred million. How did you come to such a high number? I find that Uranus is under represented in Core and Rimward. Because of gate activity in Uranus there are supposed to be more egos there than in Neptune, which has no more than 100,000.

250 not 2500 per pixel
My bad. From everything I've assembled there are close to 490 million people in the solar system. As to gate city/hab populations nothing has been released anywhere so I left them as blank. But considering the outer system population density I could have just dropped them all in a combined square.

250 Fixes It
Oh okay, that fixes the issue. Grouping together the trans-Uranian population would simplify things until there are more specifics about Uranus. A sizeable portion of Rimward's Uranus chapter was focused on the Ultimates. I figure that between unspoken settlements, stations, and habs you could find another 20-100 million egos.

Colour question
Should I use a true colour pallet for the planet boxes? Like in this image. or use the more familiar pallet? Like this one.

Really neat! It gives a great intuitive overview! I guess you have all those population figures listed - a list would be very handy too. It says 1 px = 250 egos in the pic, isn't it supposed to be 2,500? A minor suggestion - how about moving things around so they were placed more naturally together like this for example: Top row order: Jupiter Trojans, Venus/Inner fringe, Earth/lunar orbit/etc, Mars Orbit. This places Mars Orbit next to Mars and groups inner system to the right. Earth/lunar orbit etc. column: Lunar Orbit moved down to get next to Luna. Middle section: Asteroid Belt moved to to the left.

Egos, thousands of them

As it stands at 250 egos per pixel there are 490,000,000 egos, which is what the core and supplements have listed for population. I came to around 3,785,000 when I tried to have a fix on the population from just the Core book. 2,500 egos per pixel posits 4,900,000,000 egos, which is far more than the books reach.

Ah ok. The OP still says 2,500, so that's what should be corrected. I don't know why I assumed that was the correct number.

Really useful. Would also
Really useful. Would also help to have the populations written in numbers next to each item. If someone wanted to go the extra mile even right an (estimated) percentage of synth, bios and infolifes.

I'll track down my numbers and make an update. Kindalas

Amazing. This guy: http://eclipsephase.com/map-ep-solar-system-info-heavy-maps Has done a good deal of work tracking down numbers already, it should save you some time.

Here it is
Here are the population Numbers that I have extracted from the map. They match up with enough of my quick research to make me confident I didn't mess up when I made the original map. I'm still looking for my original research. ...
