What skill should you use for physical tracking. I.e. following tracks left by a ground vehicle on mars. Marks in the dirt. In the scenario I'm working on, my PCs will want to follow some smugglers in a canyon system near the TQZ. The high canyon walls prevent aerial surveillance, but the martian dust would leave tracks. What skill do you use to follow them?
Is there no survival skill, or is it covered under some other skill?

Typically there are several skills that might apply.
I would say Perception can be used, but is lousy. Profession: Forensics might be ideal, Investigation would likely work.
I agree that a Survival skill would make sense. Survival: [environment] is probably pretty widespread.

Perception and Investigation
Perception and Investigation would probably be the most appropriate skills for the task. Perception for spotting more obvious clues (or if one of your characters has enhanced smell and can track them by scent), and Investigation for spotting subtleties… especially if the people you are tracking are making an effort to mask their movements.

Perception and tracking it is. I diffenitely don't want to add a new skill for.something that is probably not all that useful in 10AF

Profession: Survival is actually a damn handy skill if you're living off the land in a terraformed portion of Mars, or in one of the last vestiges of Earth. In fact, the Earth Survivor premade character has that skill in its repertoire.
There are some uses for those skills today. Especially if you're caught in BFE with no fabber to save you.

In the skills section of the core book, physical tracking is a sample specialization for Investigation.

Indeed, but it is one thing to look around and find the tracks, and another to move across the wilderness following a trail as fast as possible. Personally, I envision Investigation as more static, and please do note that specializations are a +10 to those rolls, and that not having a specialization won't prevent you from rolling the base skill.
I cannot envision a brainy city boy following a hard merc across Mars' deserts just because he is soo good finding stuff in the net, or looking for clues in the city, mind you ^^
