Personal Vehicles
Recently reread Diamond Age, and just saw this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iCrh-LJsS18 and now I am wondering what the stats would be for the sort of skateboards they had in Snowcrash, the MC printed rollerblades in Diamond Age, or some of these personal wheel things? Any one have thoughts on price, and what sorts of speeds they'd provide for characters? Edit: fixed the link

But now I have MAD DOG
Ionic Hoverboards in general, that would be neat.

Well, we have hoverboards now
Well, we have hoverboards now - so in EP that tech is only going to get better. Honestly, simplest way to handle it is to give non-synthmorphs access to additional mobility systems, like wheeled or ionic (keeping in mind you maybe can't hover very far up) and with stuff like smart-wheels and stability assist give it a small handling bonus. The real question is, is THRASHING THE PHALT WITH 'TUDE a piloting check, or a movement skill check?

bicycles in EP
I've been wonder about that myself. To the extent that I drew up some house rules for bicycles (morph-powered, not powered motorcycles or go-cycles). Well, morph-powered, but also augmented by a small electric motor (in the versions I designed). I'd use the Freerunning skill to handle tricky maneuvering, to boost speed, etc, for skateboards and skates. Freerunning seems to be *the* default "athletic" skill for non-climbing, non-freefall athleticism. Maybe "Pilot: Wheeled" for maneuvering bikes (but still Freerunning for speed boost?). As for speed boost, I can research that later, but I'm sure there are stats pages for e.g. speed skaters--I looked up typical Tour De France speeds for my bike stats. As for cost, well remember the cheapest "vehicle" in canon is the robomule, which is ridable. Robomule costs "Low". So either your skateboard is Cheap, or provides better performance than a robomule.

Wait, what? When? How? Why didn't I hear about this?

Haha, oh man. I'm sorry to be the one to tell you this but... Here is a video from the same channel explaining that the above video was a prank. On my browser it was at the top of the Recommended sidebar on your link. Remember folks; check your sources, do your own research, and don't believe everything you hear on the internet.

Actually
Actually That's a different story. The Hendo is a working maglev concept (but the builders aren't interested in the board applications, they want to use the magnetics for other applications). The hoverboard was just a publicity thing. The prank was a different thing, called HUVr. Also, Guinness apparently credited a guy for longest hoverboard flight just last month, using a propeller driven model at a height of about 5m.

Yeah, sorry. Hendo isn't any more viable than HUVr.

I did not say we had viable
I did not say we had viable hoverboards, just a functional one. That being said, give it 120+ years of R&D and the wonder of nanofabrication, the EP world could probably produce small maglev or ionic devices that'll prop a medium-sized morph a short distance off the ground for cheap. Or at least, proportionally cheap. If you can buy a vector thrust flying car for like, 30,000 ISC, something smaller and maybe less complex could be proportionally cheaper. I stand by my idea of just using them like the Mobility Systems for robotic shells though.

Buying robotic mobility
Buying robotic mobility system seems like the best plan for my games. Thanks!
