Parallel Processor Implant's Long Term Effects on Forks
I have a new EP game in about a month, and a concept occurred to me. It says in the Parallel Processor (Rimward, page 189) description that:
Quote:
To avoid possible personality bleed-over, users are advised to use this augmentation for no more than six hours per day.
So what would happen if say, a semi-mad scientist from Bright flew off into a random asteroid in the Oort Cloud, set up an infomorph server, alpha forked himself a couple of times, then sat with the Parallel Processor on for all of them for an entire year. Could the end result entity even be considered human? How would i even play it? I dont know, but it sounds cool as hell!

I would assume...
I don't recall reading up on a parallel processer...got a book and page to reference. I would assume if used over the six hours you would get bleed over, and over time develop a gestalt mind, with all manner of issues unless taken care of over the year by and outside ego. Or just a slow and stead degradation of the egos leading to a total breakdown of the system. Regardless, would anything that exist after that year be human? Well what do you define as human?

semi-mad scientist...
First thanks for the reference. Next:The semi-mad scientist alpha forks, I would play it as all of the forks already know everything at the time they were created so bleed over wouldn't be a problem at first. over time normal an ego would diverge from each other but this might prevent... Lastly: I think this side effect is intend to be a chance for the GM to create some interesting game play. (I would love to hear how you do it is you do play it out.)

Unfortunately the GM i'm
Unfortunately the GM i'm currently playing with is new to the system, so i think i'll go for something more conventional, for his sake. I will bring it up to my more experienced GM friend at some point.
