character sheet by JMobius
I just wanted to point out another spreadsheet-based character sheet created by JMobius over at the rpg.net forums. You can download it from http://db48x.net/Eclipse Phase/Eclipse Phase Character Sheet v.5.xls, and follow the development at http://forum.rpg.net/showthread.php?t=471627 It's not quite as comprehensive as Tony Lee's sheet, but does a few more of the calculations for you, particularly with gear costs.

If you're going to list

If you're going to list *every* enhancement in the game, why not hard wire calculations for them into the sheet?

I've updated the sheet by JMobius and the RPGnet guys to use the latest beta of the eratta. Here is a list of the changes I made: My changes are as follows: * Active Skill point minimums are based off of 400 CP and not 400 skill points * Knowledge Skills mins based off of 300 CP instead of 300 skill points * Lost now begin with 1 Mental disorder for being lost and 1 for PSI level 1 * Re-instantiated now have edited memories as a background * Morphs bought during character creation cost CPs only * Neo-Hominids have Prehensile feet * Reaper info on values had Cyberclaws misspelled * Unarmed weapons: Claws were called Bio Claws, now changed to Claws * Arachnoid Morphs now have Wheeled Mobility * Flexbots now have Nanoscopic vision * Specializations need a skill of raiting 30 to be bought, taken as the bare ego value. * All types of Sniper Rifles now have a firing mode of "SA" I still need to change the cost of Drug glands to One cost category higher then Drug cost. Thats all for now. Hopefully there will be an easy to download link once I get the file hosted. Also hope I didn't step on any toes by making this for everyone.

Very useful! thanks a lot however the positive trait Danger Sense is still missing and Lunars do not get their Language bonus.... furtherly maybe can be useful some kind of reminder that you can not take more than 50pts of traits and no more than 25pts of negatives on your morph.... what do you think? regards

I love it! Keep up the good work! How might I go about having psi-skills not displayed on the printable sheet of nonpsi characters, and perhaps also having skills with no points or bonuses in them not displayed?

Re: character sheet by JMobius

I spent the last couple of days reformatting and modifying the "character generator" by JMobius (and kindalas). I figured I'd post it in this thread since they did the hard work and I only made it "prettier". There are a couple of fonts in with the zip file that I used on the "printable" character sheet (one of which is the Liberation font from the resources page).

This is still a "work in progress" and a couple of the changes are still unfinished, but it should still be totally functional. A couple things I'd like to add still is a spot on the "printable" sheet for the Muse, and another sheet that generates a stat block like in the core rulebook.

If the reaction to this is positive I'll post any other changes I make. Mostly though this is to feed my own obsessive/compulsive needs. :)

note: Any errors that were on the old sheet still exist on this one...I haven't really changed any data yet.

Well I went through what you've done and it looks good. Unfortunately I can't use what you've done, as I am still fiddling with formulas and equations to get the sheet 100% within the rules. But once the sheet is at 100% I'd very much like for you to do, again, what you've done. That way there will be more options for everyone, but I will point out that the people who have been using JMobius' sheet have been using that format since October and drastic changes may not work for everyone. On a more general topic I've been working away on an updated sheet, that now matches the official eratta, instead of just the beta of the offical erratta.

Well as for the PSI I have no way of making that box disappear on the character sheet. Yet. As for the skills on the sills tab on H12 there is a drop down selector to determine what appears on the sheet. I hope that works for you.

I'm about 50% done reformatting the newest sheet you posted. Not trying to do anything too drastic since what you guys have done so far is pretty awesome. I just wanted to make it look a little more user friendly (again, mostly for myself). I'm also almost done making an additional tab that shows everything as a "stat block" like the ones in the book. I like to come up with NPC's while I'm bored at work. :)

Re: character sheet by JMobius
Ok, here is the newly reformatted sheet. Hopefully the color palette works across all versions of excel. I use 2007 at home and 2003 at work. I found a fix online for it but I haven't tested it out yet to see if it worked. Some of the formulas I added aren't the most elegant, but they seem to get what I wanted done. Included with the file are a couple fonts that need to be installed in order for the sheet to display correctly. Hopefully someone else finds the additions I've made to the sheet useful. :) http://www.mediafire.com/?yyznacb5mmn

Re: character sheet by JMobius
One thing I think should be mentioned is that I don't think the sheet calculates aptitude correctly. According to the book:
Quote:
Every morph has an aptitude maximum, sometimes modified by traits. This maximum represents the highest value at which the character may use that aptitude while inhabiting that morph, reflecting an inherent limitation in some morphs. If a character’s aptitude exceeds the aptitude maximum of their morph, they must use it at the maximum value for the duration of the time they remain in that morph. This may also affect the skills linked to that aptitude, which must be modified appropriately. Some implants, gear, psi, and other factors may modify a character’s natural aptitudes. These augmented values may exceed a morph’s aptitude maximums, as they represent external factors boosting the morph’s ability. No aptitude, however, augmented or not, may ever exceed a value of 40. Innate ability only takes a person so far—after that point, actual skill is what counts.
The second paragraph seems to say that a person's morph bonuses can exceed the aptitude caps, and the the aptitude caps only affect the ego's stats. So if you're in something with an apt cap of 30, have an aptitude of 30, and a morph bonus of 5, you have 35. If you have an apt cap of 25, an aptitude of 30, and a morph bonus of 5, you have 30 (because it hobbles your aptitude, but still grants you a bonus).

Page 124, the section titled "Aptitude Maximums". Also, you have a straight limit to how many ego and morph traits you can purchase at creation. Other than traits that your morph naturally comes with, any traits you purchase for your morph are part of the "no more than 50 points in traits" limitation, and you are further limited in that "only 25 points of your negative traits can be morph traits". The sheet might have taken that into account, but I thought I'd bring it up because the sheet seems to put negative morph traits as part of the cost of a morph, rather than within the total amount of traits you can purchase. This is all on page 136 under "Purchasing Traits". And by the way, the sheet is awesome. Thanks for making/updating it.

I actually have done nothing for limitations on positive or negative traits, morph or otherwise. But it is on the list.

From RobBoyle's post here. He says that the morph bonuses still need to come in under the aptitude cap but the bonuses from implants and other external forces (implants, drugs psi...) are not held by that cap. But the overall attribute max is fixed at 40. I just finished implementing those changes into my latest sheet, along with fixing the Luner language bonuses and adding Danger sense to the traits. I'll post it when I've got my other special features finished. Hopefully this weekend.

Fantastic character sheet, small glitch with your latest sheet though. Your background skill bonuses aren't always calculated in - in particular the Original Space Colonist background bonuses seem to be glitching the most, freefall and pilot: spacecraft are not appearing calculated in. Otherwise the sheets are fantastic.

Re: character sheet by JMobius
There is a bit of an accounting glitch on the printable sheet. The printable page does not take into account the limitations of a morph when calculating skills with a morph bonus. So, for instance, if I purchase a morph with an aptitude limit of 30, and create a character with exceptional aptitude and a total aptitude of 40, the printable sheet does not take the limit into account when calculating any skill tied to that aptitude, completely ignoring any limitations. I made a character with exceptional Willpower (40) who was in a Futura morph (+10 to Willpower, 30 point cap), and my character's willpower-based skills were calculated as if I had a full 40 in Willpower. How I reproduce the problem: choose Futura morph, exceptional attribute (Willpower), max out ego Willpower, add 40 points to any Willpower skill. Total skill on the printable sheet should be 70 (30 from aptitude up to cap, 40 more from skill points), but shows as 80. It is apparently because the sheet still adds the morph bonus to the skill, even though it shouldn't due to the cap.

The ego version doesn't affect the morph's aptitude cap. It only affects the ego's limits, which are normally 30 but are raised to 40 with the trait. There currently isn't support for the morph version of exceptional aptitude.

Just a couple of flaws; 1. On the printable sheet if one purchases more than one drug gland only the first drug gland is completely listed. All others are just listed as 'Drug Gland' without the drug listed. 2. Neural damage (whilst not explicitly stated in the book) seems to have the option to take it multiple times, the sheet does not allow for this. That is all I noticed in the 0.83 version, otherwise the sheet looks good as always. Thanks for providing us with such excellent character sheets!

Re: character sheet by JMobius
First and most important: Many kudos for you, kindalas! Your character sheet is a very big help for anyone creating an EP character. :-) There are a few things that i noticed, however. Maybe the reason for this is that i use Open Office and not Excel. However, i don't know of any formula incompatibilities between those two programs.
  • The trait Danger Sense is existent in the Ego tab, but does not appear in the Printable tab if selected
  • The trait Direction Sense costs only 5 CP, not 10 CP (at least in the 2nd printing)
  • When using the Octomorph morph, the Swimming skill seems to be wrongly calculated: If you have a SOM of 20, and the morph gives you a +30 bonus, i'd expect a sum of 50, but the Printable tab shows 40 (not sure if this is connected with the 40 cap...)
  • The background Infolife doesn't result in the preselected negative traits Real World Naivete and Social Stigma
  • Every character gets a Standard Muse for free, but the Gear tab doesn't support this
  • Every character gets a 1 Month Backup Insurance for free, but the Gear tab doesn't support this
And finally some usability suggestions (not bugs):
  • It would be great if you could add a free text for certain traits (e.g. On The Run, Social Stigma etc.). Maybe solved similar to certain skills where you have to note a certain field (e.g. Academics)?
  • Some Personal Gear items look kind of confusing in the Printable tab. E.g. when you purchase the Fixer Nanobots, they'll show up as Fixers in the Printable tab (same e.g. for the Exploit Software). Maybe it's a good idea to put the main category (Nanobots, Program) behind the item name?
Keep up that very good work, kindalas! :-)

Any chance of increasing the size of the Implant & gear box in the printable tab? Im finding that it fills quickly esp with weapons and armour with alot of options. Also any chance of showing the +30 initiative gained from the mental speed nanoware, its not likely to be always used though so perhaps just noting (+30) in the init box as a reminder might help Cant wait for 0.84.

Hey there Kindalas the .84 sheet is top notch, just a few requests. 1. There is no provision to purchase a second body during character creation with money, this is something that you may want to factor in. 2. If you do purchase a secondary body there is no way to make the sheet display the stats/equipment/etc from that body on the printable page (so there should be a way to tell the printable sheet to use the stats/equipment/etc from the secondary or even tertiary body). 3. Only being able to display one weapon stat line for each thrown, melee or ranged is a bit inconvenient. Can this be fixed? 4. The character sheet doesn't seem to recognise the second skin trait - at least not for a neo-avian taking a Synth morph as its primary body. 5. Miscellaneous typos, nothing big but they are all over the place. 6. Weapons listing on the printable sheet does not take into account the extend magazine weapon add-on. That's all I can think of at the moment. Once again, fantastic character sheet and keep up the good work!

One more thing, Muse still doesn't show up as free standard equipment, nor does the one month backup insurance. Also is there a chance you could program in a section on the sheet for us to customize any purchased Muse that can be altered. For example a Standard Muse has 3 'Other' Knowledge Skills at 40 on top of it's normal skills. Thanks again!

Standard rules post-errata dictate that bodies are always purchased with CP during creation, rather than money. It shouldn't be too hard to work with, however, if your campaign allows people to purchase extra bodies with money instead.

Ahh, I missed the point about the bodies, thanks for the update.

This was changed in the second printing errata, now all morphs are bought with CP during character creation

What you need to do is go on the Ego sheet, H27, and that dropdown lets you chose what morph is being used and it covers the gear selection on the printable sheet.

Currently there is no easy fix, but as I agree that it is inconvenient I'm planning on redesigning the calculations of the weapons to show everything.

I've fixed that for the 8.5 sheet, thanks for the catch

Thats another thing I've been working to solve for a while, hopefully with my redesign on the calculations it should be resolved then

When you purchase them on the sheet, the first one is for free. It is taken care of in the cost calculation.

I think I might use that idea for the 4 page character sheet I'm working on for the next version..

Just a heads up Kindalas, version 0.84 has a bug - specifically when you add muscle augmentation + hardened skeleton + drug gland: kick to a Fury morph (after maxing out Som 30), the printable sheet calculates the final Som out at 40. Obviously this shouldn't be the case, but it does never the less do so. Can't wait for v.0.85! Also can we get functionality for using these sheets for tracking Rez Point Expenditures?

From RobBoyle's post here. He says that the morph bonuses still need to come in under the aptitude cap but the bonuses from implants and other external forces (implants, drugs psi...) are not held by that cap. But the overall attribute max is fixed at 40.

REZ will be my focus for the update after 0.86. Right now rez is functionally identical to CPs but I need to calculate a switch that removes some of the limitations that occur only during character generation.

Well it looks like my goal of having the latest version of the excel sheet ready before Sunward comes out is coming down to the line. As I don't know what exactly Sunward will contain the next update will not contain any of the info in that book. But I will endeavor to incorporate all of the info in Sunward into the 0.86 sheet, that depending on the book's contents I could have out in as little time as a week from when the 0.85 sheet comes out. I know I am speaking deadlines something that should be never done for a part time just for fun project, but Sunward is coming and I am excited.

When you look at the Skills sheet, http://i562.photobucket.com/albums/ss64/kindalas/EPCharsheetexample.jpg[... You can see that there are two fields that you can fill in. Field which is the drop down menu that includes all of the recommended fields from the core book and Custom Field which allows you to type in whatever you want and on this sheet if you fill in the custom field it supercedes any selections in the field dropdown menu. I hope that helps.

    Re: character sheet by JMobius
I've finished making the 0.85 Character sheet which can be downloaded HERE This sheet is a huge update, currently it sits at 1.6MB which is 600k over the last version. Currently I have included a 4 page character sheet, which required a Muse AI sheet, a Weapons configuration sheet, and a new verbose selector on the gear sheet so that implants and gear can receive expanded descriptions on the 4 page printable sheet. However as Sunward is available for sale, I've decided to call this version done. Because of this many of the extra data inputs are incomplete but I should be able to get them done shortly for the 0.86 sheet. Changes include:
Made a 4 Page character sheet, however even though the formulas are all in place much of the data fields still need to be constructed. Synthetic Morphs don't have basic biomods as they are not biological Fixed second skin trait Fixed some spelling mistakes Added Verbose selector for 4 page character sheet Changed 2 page sheet for format Made Muse sheet, but with no skillsofts for now. Made expanded implants and gear sheets Limited amunition smart features based on type Programs, AIs skillsofts and blueprints are now available to all morphs as they are easily copyable Expanded weapons sheet, for ammunition assignment. Smartlink, laser sight, homing and laser guided skill bonuses autocalculated Smart magazine and extended magazine now calculated into ammo Made the sticky grenade option only available to the grenade and microgrenade on the gear sheet
Any error checking, trouble shooting or questions to my interpretation of the rules is welcome.

Bravo, kindalas. I felt the need to congratulate you on your dutiful hard work. Your sheets certainly take most of the nasty mathematical sting out of character gen (which is a bonus for me personally). Keep up the good work.

This is probably the best working .xls character sheet I've ever used for any game. Thank you very much. question: on the gear page what do the selections in the "verbose" column do? Couple of points; the cyber claws weapon should probably be linked to the Blades skill. Is there any way to make a weapon specialization add into the skill in the weapon area of the character sheet? If I have a character with a cyber claws specializaion in unarmed it would be cool if the extra 10 points from the specialization were added in. For some reason I could only choose knowledge skills for my Muse that I had allready chosen for my character. My understanding is that a muse can have any knowledge skill. Also It would be nice if software and skill softs I own could show up in the Muse box on the character sheet. I like to buy skillsofts for my muse.
