New Moderator Introductions

As seen in this link [url=http://eclipsephase.com/moderation-update] here[/url] after a trial period of active moderation of these forums the PS+ team has decided to move forwards and establish a dedicated team of moderators. They feel and we agree that this will help keep the forum welcoming to new posters without making the experienced posters feel like the're being constrained and regulated. The recent forum post by PS+ [url=http://eclipsephase.com/regarding-mras]Regarding MRAs[/url] being unwelcome on this forum and as customers for PS+ products is a change in policy that I agree with completely. I am a fan of a subtle warning system where instead of strikes and bans the use of soft warnings, like "Don't do that again" or "we are veering off topic with this", are used to shape and guide the community instead of a rigid set of rules and restrictions that everyone must use on day one. Before volunteering to help keep this community awesome I was best known for playing with Excel on the EP Hombrew Forums and for sending in hilariously* sarcastic yet honest application emails into forum owners volunteering to help. I am looking forwards to hardly ever having to break out my [color=red] Moderator voice. But when you do see this red text understand that it is used lightly and with good intentions.[/color] Kindalas

Hey everyone.

Hey everyone. I am looking forward to helping out around here, I volunteered because I love the game and wish to see the forums and community flourish. I also prefer subtle reminders and warnings over hard strikes and bans, so predominately I want to just be posting to move people back towards the topic of the thread, or the "don't do this/that again" warning. That said,[color=red] my posts will be red. However, I only speak with the best of intentions in mind, and don't do so lightly.[/color]

Phosthuman studios want this forum to be a friendly place to share ideas on not only Eclipse Phase but all sorts of philosophical topics. In order to help ensure that as many people as possible feel welcome here, a certain kind of forum moderation is needed. I volunteered to help with this not only because I really like Eclipse Phase as a game and setting but also because I like the PS+ business model and want to support them. Just like them, I also like to discuss normally considered "hot" topics such as politics and religion, but I feel it should be done while being respectful to those who hold different views. The moderation policy, the things we will look out for can be summarized with: "no personal or group attacks" and "don't be a dick". The core pricinple behind this is a matter of respect. Be polite to your other forumites and treat them respectfully. [color=red]I will speak as a moderator to give soft warnings / nudges whenever I feel that a person is being disrespectful, insulting or the like to try and bring them back to track. Don't be too alarmed, just modify your behavior accordingly. If the advice is not listening to however, hard warnings could happen and eventually the banhammer. I would hate to throw people out as it diminishes our group but will not hesitate to do so for the good of the community.[/color] The correct response when being issued a warning is always "I am sorry dear moderator, I will adjust my behavior accordingly" and then follow through with doing just that. As there are now four of us, we will also be watching each other. Should you feel you are treated unfairly despite this, feel free to message one of us and we will take your input under consideration. Remember that we are not out to get you nor will any warnings issued mean we hate you. We are only here to moderate behavior and as long as you behave polite and respectful, there won't be a problem. /Lorsa

Hail, I am Eowomyriewyn, the fourth new moderator. You can refer to me as Eo for swiftness. I am here to help promote healthy community efforts. I am willing to be another voice or a set of ears to maintain the high standard that is expected of a forum while allowing PS+ to continue to focus on their work and keep releasing additional content. I am by no means ranked differently then my fellow Moderators, all four of us can be contacted, and will do all we can to answer any questions or concerns that is put forth. We also will be doing our best to keep an eye out on the content being shared on this forum to prevent defamatory comments and posts out of the community. Anyone can debate, question or counteract a remark or topic, but it takes an informed and educated individual to actually carry out a proper conversation. [color=red]Along side my peers we will be using red font to administer Moderator comments, concerns or warnings, be advised.[/color] [color=red]My policy is to find the root of the problem instead of simply laying harsh punishment but I will do so if no other option presents itself.[/color] My number one goal in my position is to ensure everyone can enjoy this game as much as I have, which I must say is a game greatly enjoyed. Congratulations on the account upgrades! It must have been a difficult decision for PS+ to install what should be an unnecessary hierarchy, but it seems like they found the perfect people for it. I am slightly disappointed that after all of the politeness someone didn't post, "IGNORE THESE LIGHTWEIGHTS. I AM THE HAMMER."

I too was secretly hoping for one to say something to that effect. Maybe there is a secret fifth Mod, knowledge of which is a ban-worthy offense. Though I suppose that would be in violation of the stated policies of PS+. Oh well...

Welcome and congratulations on the promotions! One request - could you consider tweaking that red text color? It is ludicrously difficult to read against the dark background. I mean, I hope we won't have to read it often, but another shade of lighter red or orange would be just as distinctive without making us squint :)

I think mod text should be yellow, [i]unless[/i] they're handing out a ban, in which case it should be bright cherry red. But, eh... *shrug* I, for one, can muster up only a lukewarm welcome to our new moderation underlords. I miss the old underlord.

I think it has to do with our screen settings. Because we chose red because it stood out clearly on the background for us.

I appreciate the suggestion, but as a group we already decided to use 1 colour and that colour was red. I'm sorry if it is difficult for you to read but it is clear to me.

Thanks for the offer! But I've got it handled - I tweaked everything and it's much better now. I also think I may have had flux active when I last posted - I always forget about it at night.

I'm red green colour blind. It is why the red warning in the excel character sheet was so glarningly red.

Got it, but seems like it perhaps doesn't support two monitors with Ubuntu. I'll have to play with it a bit more. Thank you though!
