Neo-Synergist Alpha Forks-consequences?
So what would happen if a person decided to create numerous Alpha Forks of his own personality, upload them in the same bio or synth morphs and used Hyper Mesh link from Neo Synergist ? Would subsequent merging of its Alpha Forks face the similiar penalties as normal?

Neo-Synergist Alpha Fork [hr] My criminal gang e[sup]N[/sup] does something similar to this, but they don't generally merge again. It's a good question, and my gut reaction would be to say no. It seems that none of the changes any fork experiences would come as a surprise, so the only possible damage would be in rewiring memory neurons to make room for them. Hmmm. "ONE OF US! ONE OF US! ONE OF US!" [EDIT] Extrasolar Angel x-rep++

If the different forks do different things, I think they would diverge and get the same penalties. Even worse, there might be spontaneous symmetry breaking if the synergism goes on: brain A specializes in one task and brain B in another, so when merging they might have incompatible memories because they used the corresponding areas to store different information. This possibility might or might not happen, based on your assumptions about how collective mind self-organisation happens and how fast. Personally I think group minds might make great NPCs, and slightly less good PCs (remember, you only get to play one of the members). But the more bizarre posthumans around to creep out/help/eat PCs the better.
