multiple names, one muse ...
I've just read something I thin it's important to share i was serching in one of mtyh dictionnary the mythos beind the cat and i found something interresting in muslm tradition a black cat is not a good thing but if you, say, kick it your hemzâd could be mad at you and it's now it become interesting an hemzâd is a djin (the big blue thing with robin williams voice in aladin) who is born in the same time as you, is fonction is to keep you campagny and it hit me ... this a (spiritual) muse of some kind so I was wondering in EP muslim community could use the name Hemzâd for a muse and if they do, how, say, a chinese community call their muse if someone have a better understanding of the myth of other community, other then grec (muse) and occidental, this is the place to share new perspective on every day life's detail in EP setting ... I guess

What do you mean a butterfly cause this ? How a butterfly can cause an enviromental system overload on the other side of a 10 000 egos habitat ?

Interesting find. In Norse mythology there is the fylgia and vörðr who seem to have a similar roles. And Christians often talk about personal guardian angels. All suggesting good names for muses.

Re: multiple names, one muse ...
The japanese culture could use a name from a dead ancestor, or a guardian spirit tied to the family. In several RPGs, Spain is depicted with devotions to saints and/or virgins (yeah, the "guardian angel" part is kept, however as far as I know it's more like a silent camera that gets responsabilized for those miraculous survivings from catastrophes than anything else). However, I think the question is a little limited... After all, we are talking about cultural tradition, so why limit the question to old Earth's cultures? I bet most of the corporative members renamed their muses (if they weren't born in the corp) to something fitting, while for some glitterati renaming their muse is a weekly (or even daily) matter, using names of friends, lovers, or whatever. Also, remember that while muses receive lots of attention, they are a limited AI, and there are tons of AI's working in EP. For example, how does a transport pilot calls the ship's AI? Or a combat pilot? What of a gatecrashing team? Of course, the muses are extremely important because there is one per character in EP (most likely even in the Jovian Republic), I'm just telling not to limit the options.

Personally, I tend to view the 'muse' designation as a brand name that became the common term, much like Kleenex or (in some places, at least) Coke. So yes, you could certainly have specific hypercorps that market the same thing under a different brand name, or have communities that call them something else.

Let's not forget : *BrainPal, a propriety Muse model for Direct Action. It's clear, often impersonal and generally lack the affective bond with the user, whom general gives it a derogatory name like Asshole, Bitch, ChickenShit,etc... *SeKiRei, a special muse (more AGI than AI) model that can be forked into a pleasure Pod or a Fury with a cyberbrain. Was discontinued, though, after all 108 made models were found to be particuliarly prone to jealous psychotic rage against one another when owned by the same user. The SeKiRei were especially appreciated by Scums and Brinkers
