Moxy, forking and backing up.
A couple of moxy related questions occurred to me while thinking on the high frey skill thread.
If I create an alpha fork of myself, what access dose it have to moxy.
What about if I create a backup, assault the exurgant spending all of my moxy taking several of them down with me, I am restored from backup (which has none of the stress from the fight. How much moxy do I have available.)
I am inclined to have moxy be completely separated from forks and backups. Just for balance and ease of book Keeping reasons. The player has a pool to use and unless a fork diverges enough to be considered an NPC all forks draw from the same pool.
But I was wondering how others delt with it or if it ever even came up.

The rules seem to imply that
The rules seem to imply that forks have their own moxie pools (since betas get a moxie of 1), but in practice, allowing players to increase their moxie by giving each fork their own pool is just asking for abuse. Therefore, I would rule that as long as a player keeps control of hir forks, ze has to use manage a static pool of moxie between them for balance reasons (though I would probably refresh the pool upon re-instantiation from back up). Then again, Eclipse Phase tends not to focus on balance, so do what you want.

Default to the lowest moxie
Default to the lowest moxie between the two forks upon merge. If they don't merge apply appropriate amounts of stress for losing a fork, not knowing how you died, etc etc, depending on how exactly the situation plays out.
Also keep in mind that an Alpha Fork is an exact copy and has the exact same thought patterns. For your character to be okay with spawning an Alpha Fork that goes down in a suicide rush, he himself would have to be okay with being the one dying in a suicide rush aswell (this applies to both of them that exist after forking). Only characters with a more abstract concept of survival ("As long as one of me survives I am alive.") would readily do so. Against Exsurgents its even worse since they won't kill your fork. They'll take it over, and know and understand everything about you, while there's a monstrous infected version of you running around the solar system, which is all kinds of nasty stress hits and potentially a way to have Exsurgents stalking you.

As a rule of thumb for alpha forks, whenever possible one should send his alpha on the safer/more pleasant route, that way you don't have to worry about the issues of making an alpha just to die (in fact, you are making an alpha to live). Also, always have a way of destroying your stack/ego when on a suicide mission (and it isn't necessarily a bad idea for other missions, either), especially one against exsurgents.
