Missing Morph
Hey everyone! New to EP and loving everything I've seen so far. Been digging in to various rules and systems so expect insanity to come from me in some shape or form - hopefully constructive ones. Recently though, I've had a read-through of Panopticon and came across mention of Fortean and their Pod-morphs - Specifically the Ripwing, Chickarnie, and an unstatted morph called the Vodyanoy. I'm kinda confused as to why the Vodyanoy is only mentioned, and not given stats when the other two are. I realize it's very late now, with 2nd edition EP in the works, to bring up something like this, but it's a tiny bit disappointing to see mention of what could be an interesting morph, and then...nothing. Being the insane/intermittently industrious sort I apparently am, I did take a crack at designing the morph with TH's morph creation rules:
Spoiler: Highlight to view
Vodyanoy Created by Fortean, the Vodyanoy is an attempt at creating a flexible and accessible morph to appeal to cetacean uplifts, while providing functionality and flexibility. Based on an amphibious creature from Slavic folklore, the morph incorporates numerous transgenic hacks which allow it to seamlessly transition from aquatic environments to terrestrial ones. The most significant feature is the morphs arms and legs - while thick and somewhat short, by proportion, enable human-like activity with an otherwise neo-cetacean body. Other hacks include improvements to eyesight, allowing more humanlike vision, and even modifications to the facial muscles - allowing the morph to emote on a near-human level. The visual diversity of various neo-dolphin and neo-porpoises can easily be reproduced on the Vodyanoy through biosculpting and genetic tweaks. Enhancements: Access Jacks, Basic Biomods, Basic Mesh Inserts, Cortical Stack, Cyberbrain, Echolocation, Enhanced Hearing, Mnemonic Augmentation, Oxygen Reserve, Puppet Sock, Respirocytes Mobility System: Walker (4/16), Swim (14/42) Aptitude Maximum: 30 Durability: 55 Wound Threshold: 11 Advantages: +5 COO, +5 INT, +5 SOM, +5 to one other aptitude of the player’s choice, +30 Swim skill, Ramming Attack (1d10 DV, AP -1) Disadvantages: Social Stigma: Pod, Vodyanoy lack a sense of smell Notes: Non-Human Biochemistry CP Cost: 40 Credit Cost: Expensive (40,000 minimum) Variant: Enlarged Meant for orca and beluga uplifts, the enlarged Vodyanoy has thicker proportions compared to the standard variant. This is due to an enhanced muscle-to-mass ratio, and improved fortitude compared to the base morph. Other subtle, unadvertised tweaks include sharp teeth and a powerful jaw structure - not unlike that of a neo-orca. Enhancements: Access Jacks, Basic Biomods, Basic Mesh Inserts, Cortical Stack, Cyberbrain, Echolocation, Enhanced Hearing, Mnemonic Augmentation, Oxygen Reserve, Puppet Sock, Respirocytes Mobility System: Walker (4/20), Swim (16/60) Aptitude Maximum: 35 Durability: 95 Wound Threshold: 19 Advantages: +5 COO, +5 INT, +10 SOM, +5 to one other aptitude of the player’s choice, +30 Swim skill, +10 Unarmed Combat skill, Bite Attack (2d10 DV, AP -3) Disadvantages: Social Stigma: Pod, Enlarged Vodyanoy lack a sense of smell and are large targets in combat (+10 to hit) Notes: Enlarged Size trait, Non-Human Biochemistry CP Cost: 75 Credit Cost: Expensive (75,000 minimum)
Notes: I selected the durability the way I did because even porpoises are large animals, and having a multi-ton predator have similar innate durability to a genetically tweaked, very athletic human seems...wrong. Otherwise I left out the prices and augment restrictions of the standard augments (access jacks, biomods, etc) - since those are near universally stated as being freely available to most, if not all, morphs. Any enlightenment would be appreciated, and I'm open to constructive criticism for my madness as well!

Ooh, very nicely done, and it
Ooh, very nicely done, and it fills a role I didn't realize needed filling before now: the cetacean pod.

Which is weird, because this is simply my interpretation of a pod that is explicitly named in Panopticon - but was never given official stats. Was it done that way to give players fodder for making their own morphs like this? Or was it a case of something being overlooked? It'd be frustrating if it were a case of pointing out something exists, simply to say it does, without any further backing or support, because EP seems to be based so much around the division between mind and body - and the sheer diversity of bodies that are available.
