Jovian morph-new conservative morph idea
Jovian morph Named after Jovian Republic where it was developed this morph is used by moderate bioconservatists. While extreme bioconservatists would prefer people to use Flats exclusively, they are in effect a small minority. Most progressive bioconservatists use splicer morphs and restrict more exotic morphs to critical situations or work places like radiation belts or surface of Io. Between them are more moderate extremists who financed and supported this morph. Based on philosophies and ideas of the movement, Jovian morph gives the user adequate enhancements without infringing on his human dignity and forsakes destructive influence on society. While not overwhelmingly popular, this mod is being propagated by certain more hard line members of Jovian Republic government. What the Jovian Republic does not publicly tell the population and what the users usually discover themselves by experience, is that as compromise and the need to have an advantage over other forms of human population, the Jovian scientists have increased the resistance of the body, its bone structure, endurance while limiting the potential in other areas to normal human values. In most of the system the term for this morp is insulting "Zero" or "Human 0.1" Traits: Limited Biomods Aptitude Maximum:20 Durability:35 Wound Threshold:7 Advantages:none CP Cost:5 Credit Cost:Moderate in Jovian Republic, certain orbitals near Earth Orbit, High in the rest of the system. Limited Biomods: All hereditary diseases are eradicated, scars, spots, visible signs of former diseases as well. Your body ages but at slow, moderate and healthy pace. The body aging process slows significantly at 65 years and then lasts till crica 120(at this date you will be in around 80 regarding your age). This is when the process of dying starts which will be felt consciously by the user a year before-this is intended to prepare him for the event and say farewell to family and friends(yes this means that the creators DO intend the user to die in a process very similar to natural one). You do not regrow body parts. Morhp requires 6 hours of sleep per night to fully rest. You are immune to cancer, and most of normal diseases-however for a short time before your system switches to throw them off, you will feel their effects for two or three days(in cases like flu for example). You are immune to long term effects of zero gravity. Healing is a per normal basic biomod(I am bit divided on the issue) This is my idea about a morhp I intend to use as an option for certain bioconservative characters, a compromise between splicer and flat morphs. Comments and ideas are welcomed.

So your major change is limited biomods, rather than full biomods? Are these modifications that can be applied after you're born, or must they be grown with the morph from conception? Overall, the play difference between this and basic biomods are so minor, I don't see it really coming up. It would still be useful for color, but in application, I don't know that it's going to see much use. So the descriptive text is great, but I think the mechanics actually take away from it in this case.

the Durability is notably a bit higher than both flats and splicers, 35 compared to 30. this could easily be fairly useful, i personally would also raise the aptitude max to 25. the way i would interpret this is, the absolute best possible human form possible based on selection, amplification, and perhaps limited removal of certain genetic traits we already have, rather than addition of new ones. overall its a good idea, particularly if the players must partake in a large number of missions in some way related to these Jovian extremists, it would be a great morph for at least one party member to have.

Re: Jovian morph-new conservative morph idea
Hi I just picked up the game and am reading through it. I think the game is great, really taking SF to a great level. But I have been having a couple of nagging concerns. Jovians and bioconservatives in general seem to need something more. Both seem to need fleshing out. It almost feels like their technology should go in a different direction. Perhaps non biomorph humans that are very heavy into the nanotech. Like something out of the vaporware A.I. DGP product or "The Broken Land" by Ian Mcdonald. some cloud of nanobots that turns people into trees. I don't know. I just am reading the Jovian Junta bits of the book and feel they are pretty lame, in a book that has otherwise been spectacular. Almost like it was a liberal idiot doing their impression of a conservative idiot. EP is better than that.

Hi travelnjones! If you look around the forums you will see several attempts by people to do exactly that and to be honest this thread isn't exactly for talking about how to make Jovians more credible. the thread you are looking for is namely here: http://www.eclipsephase.com/making-jovians-non-stupid Welcome to the boards.
