Introduction and pictures
Hi there! Had my first session of EP this weekend after toying around with the idea of starting a little one-shot for my group for half a year or so. Biggest obstacle was creating characters, as my players had no knowledge of the rules and a very limited idea of the background. Might have to do with the fact that we usually stick to TDE and try out very few other systems. So I pumped out about a good dozen characters, mostly civilians, a few fighters/soldiers and a few of the "freaky" characters possible in EP. Might have gone a bit overboard with preparations and translating their gear and skills, but it made explaining the rules and characters easier for my guys. None of the characters had any idea of the Fall as of yet, their only connection was the escape shuttle they were in, stored asleep in cryo pods. Waking up, they found themselves in the small medbay of a independent salvage ship that sort of stumbled upon their shuttle, stuck in near Earth orbit for far too long to be possible. Of course, after a few shocking discoveries (Gorillas and zero-g don't mix well, "What does this 10 AF on my display mean, anyway?"), giving the characters/players a broad overview of their situation and leaving them to settle in their characters...things started to go wrong. And a couple of malfunctions and explosions later, the characters found themselves back on their old shuttle trying to recover one of the remaining generators for life support...here I must confess, I very muchly ripped of Dead Space for most of the rest of the session. Including space zombies (rest of the cryo pods). Anyway, long story short, the one-shot went fine and my players had a blast (...and most of them survived). My only problem is that now I'm sorta stuck with too much motivation for continuing the whole thing and only a very loose idea of how to do it. Probably gonna play another 2-3 sessions and after that my players can decide if they want to continue with the pre-made characters or make their own. So, anybody here ever used Fresh Kills (Which is going to be the next stop for now...)? Next session will be less horror and more culture shock (Including me explaining how reputation works), I guess.

Never really played Dark Eye
Never really played Dark Eye and I don't know what Fresh Kills is, so I don't know if I can be of any help to you, but I'd really like to know how you made those images? (Please don't say by hand)
The end really is coming. What comes after that is anyone's guess.

Actually from how I've read
Actually from how I've read the books. Most characters if they were alive post- say 20 BF (so 20 years prior to the fall). They'd not be experiencing too much technological shock.. if they're from before 60 BF then quite a bit... it seems. Though if they're going to expereince culture shock, set them down in Mars-> Jupiter-> Outer Belt (autonomist space)..

Fresh Kills is a habitat at
Fresh Kills is a habitat at the Earth-Luna L5 point, crewed by scum, scavengers and pirates. It's the home port for the salvage ship that picked up the characters. Characters are left penniless, the captain of the ship isn't much help (lost most of his crew and has to resleeve them, ship badly damaged) and they have to explore the habitat in order to earn some credits. At least, that's the plan for now... @Erenthia: The maps were done in Adobe Flash, same goes for the paper avatars. The character sketches are drawn by hand, scanned and will be colored in Photoshop. It helps to be the quiet guy who's always drawing stuff for these things...only recently upgraded to DM. Planning on posting the sketches for Fresh Kills when they're done. The maps really helped me keeping track during the session. @Songtress: Quite true, but the characters are pre-Fall citizens and will have their first meeting with scum and pirates. So probably not much of a technological shock, but considering how one of my players reacted to the neo-dolphin ego sleeved into an arachnoid...it might take them some time getting used to it all (these are mostly fantasy players). I'm thinking of a Futurama vibe for the next session.

That is very nice work. I
That is very nice work. I have actually stolen your image of the Unity of sprite and been happily hacking away at it on MS paint to create a ship for a pbp game. I hope ya do not mind me doing so.Very nicely done work.
