Infomorphs Moving Devices
OK, so I am having a bit of a brain fart on a particular rule. When a person sleeved into an Infomorph moves devices, that is to say the device they are currently hosted on, is this considered a resleeve? It has never come up for me before, and while I am fairly sure this is the case I am not exactly sure.

I don't think it makes sense to treat it as a resleeve. Resleeving is troublesome to people because it hurts their sense of personal continuity - the new environment, the new body, the realization their line of consciousness got a big break. But an infomorph lives in their own personal mini-simspace (their exoself), with whatever simspace avatar they are used to as an interface to the surrounding hard- and software. Moving to a new device doesn't change the environment or body noticeably, and the consciousness break is likely pretty minor. I would judge that infomorphs who move do not need to do any integration or alienation tests, and only continuity tests might apply. I would likely normally waive them too, or give a good bonus of +30 to them. However, I can see some people who think any break in their continuity are a threat. Maybe it makes a good negative trait: Personal continuity obsession (negative ego trait, 10 CP) The character thinks personal continuity is important, and takes badly to any break in it. Even when moving from one device to another as an infomorph they realize that this actually means making a new copy and erasing the old version. This obsession gives a -30 penalty to continuity tests and requires a continuity test even when moving as an infomorph.

Is the question If moving from one device to another considered a resleeve.

That is indeed the question. For example: Stryke the AGI Infomorph is currently residing in James' Ghostrider module. They are tasked with a simple electronic B&E, but the room with the server is wirelessly secured (faraday cage) and it requires multiple people at multiple points to access. They get into the server room, and Stryke wants to be put down an access jack into an ecto that will then be hardwired into the server. Now, from my reading Stryke would be resleeving into a new Informoph on the Ecto, deleting himself from the last one as he goes.

I agree with Arenamontanus that it would not be considered a resleeve because it doesn't pose the same sort of problem with identity continuity that other resleeves do.

Re: Infomorphs Moving Devices
If that is indeed the case, would you consider someone who is doing a soft transfer (One that maintains continuity) from one Synthmorph to another Synthmorph of the exact same model a resleeve? Because as far as I can tell that is exactly what the Infomorph would be doing, just in the virtual.

Yeah, really soft transfers can probably reduce the risks of trauma. Either give a bonus on the roll or avoid it.

Well it is possible to do a transfer with no trauma and no alienation test because there's the Right at Home positive trait. Some people can make the transition rather easily so I'm sure that a person that's really good at making transitional fade could probably almost recreate that. Perhaps it could be the effect of a good critical success with moxie: no Alienation, no stress?
