An idea comes to me

Earth is not overrun with TITANs, but it's politically convenient for the higher authorities who are virtually immortal to claim it is. And blow up any attempts to communicate otherwise. Not to say TITAN activity is at zero, but when they left on the Pandora Express, all the concentrated effort did, too. I'm thinking the initial hook will be a small event on a small to moderate hab and a "erroneous" mass driver strike, with the players maybe/not getting off in time with a small window. But I'm having trouble establishing what or who would give them that window. Ideas?

well the habs will at least

well the habs will at least have near grid search radar to assist in docking, so that should give them so warning on an incoming object

I like it, but I'm thinking if they post an all points warning

They'll have a panicked rush for the lifeboats/egocasting facilities. That could be interesting in and of itself.

i suggest reading Downbellow Station, a bit old but has an excellent description of a habitat post mass riots. The problem is with an erroneous strike is that it will give revenge as a primary motive and the pc's may not want to adventure on earth for very long before punching some LAA face in. For hab Size i suggest around 200 to 300 hundred egos. enough to cause a riot in mass evacuation but not so packed as to be entirely faceless

War is a Harsh Mistress

Earth still would have all the nukes among other problems going on from the World War 3 environment that was going on during the Fall. Even lacking any real TITAN threat it is still going to suffer a lot from the ravages of war
