Hinterlands by William Gibson
Has anyone read "Hinterlands" by William Gibson (of Neuromancer fame)? It seems like straight up a Pandora Gate set up, mixed with those pyramids on Giza, and is generally freaking spooky as heck. Pseudopod recently featured it. (link: http://pseudopod.org/2016/04/15/pseudopod-486-hinterlands/ ) I thought it was really cool, and the sort of 'we must tinker with this despite it driving people insane' sort of set up reminded me of an even scarier Pandora Gate set up.

I saw his book "Spook County" but I never got around to actually reading it. Gibson's fascination with technology borders on supernatural, but as an author his prose is bone dry. I liked Neuromancer but hit a wall with Mona Lisa Overdrive, and Burning Chrome was a fun read. Gibson has a real knack for foresight, some might call him a modern Nostradamus. I've kind of related to his position that you really shouldn't trust something that you can't fully understand.
