Handling nuance in the rules
uwtartarus and boomzilla, this thread is not for your eyes. Everyone else, I'm running an inner system Luna/Mars campaign that is centered around corporate espionage and sabotage. Shadowrun in the EP setting effectively, which means that the Corp is not pulling punches when it comes to security. The player's crew was recruited to ferret out a mole/saboteur and has partly succeeded on their mission but are in a rush to extract before the authorities arrive on the scene. In order to hedge possible derailments and be prepped should a few possible options be taken I need the following answered: How quickly should it take for a TITAN basilisk hack take effect? I've run characters that have the faraday modded armor, tied to the muse, but in those sessions info transfer was considered to be 'instant' and so the mental action + 1 action turn was deemed too slow. Is that just par for the course or is it just brutal GMing? One of the characters has the Schizophrenia mental disorder, I have yet to bring it up (3 sessions in) because despite having done some research and browsed some of the youtube documented events I have no clue as to possible trigger instances. So before I throw it out there how would you say the person's Muse would react / interact with the Schizophrenic lapse? If they are receiving the same auditory / visual stimuli as their host are they also having a Schizoid experience? Are they considered to be a 3rd party observer? Can they attempt to perform psychiatric therapy to help manage the event? I may ask some more follow ups, but thank you for taking the time to read and reply.

Depends, incapacitating
Depends, incapacitating inputs and YGBM attacks happen pretty much instantly, though I suspect that someone with mental speed or multitasking might succeed in shuttering themselves before it's too late, or at least, to prevent reprogramming from succeeding, as those take a while. My (limited) understanding is that schizophrenia is pretty much always there, but stress and certain mind-affecting drugs can worsen symptoms. I don't know a ton about it though. A muse can definitely help, they're basically ghost riding in a mesh inserts and don't need to experience everything their user does. I'd anticipate the constant companionship, advice, and personal therapy (a muse does have a PhD equivalent in psychiatric care after all) would be instrumental in helping mentally ill transhumans.
