GM Utilities
I've been planning an online EP game for a month or so now, and I've reached the point where I want to begin running it. I'd like to have a useful tool to interact w/ my players, so I put this to the group-what are the online RPG utilities y'all use, or have found to be useful? I've been looking, but a great deal of the software I find is D20 or D&D specific, and I'd like to find something system neutral. Good chat/mapping programs, things like that. Google Wave appeals to me as an early adopter, but I don't know much about it either. Similarly, are there programs that other Storytellers out there use to organize their ideas or take notes for their games? I'm past the text phase, on to wanting to organize the actors according to their relationships. Any suggestions?

Re: GM Utilities
Google Docs for character sheets (GM and player can share and edit at the same time) Skype for voice RPTools MapTool, TokenTool and InitTool for everything else. Check them out at http://rptools.net. Free software and a great community around it all.

So apparently google wave is sweet. http://arstechnica.com/gaming/news/2009/10/google-wave-we-came-we-saw-we... I just got my invite to it a couple of days ago and I immediatly thought of EP. I mean, I've even been checking out humanityplus.org and checking out all the crazy stuff on there. But honestly I wish someone would set up and EP wave game. I'm going to check out Darkast right now!

Sling me an invite. I'm hoping to get a game going after the holidays and I can very much see having a tabletop component and an online one. It might make for some interesting possibilities.

Re: GM Utilities
So I ended up getting my hands on a Wave invite and have played with it quite a bit. It's really only useful for shared campaign notes. You won't be "playing" in any meaningful way. I'm working on a Google Spreadsheet version of the character sheet and will post it here when I'm done. So far, Google spreadsheet has been the most important tool for our game - we run ALL of our character sheets through it, and we play quite a few different systems. In terms of game table, though, there's only one reasonable choice - RPTools MapTool. Just an incredible resource, especially since it's free.

Re: GM Utilities
My group uses skype and google docs work for us and its all free. I was part of iTableTops beta and its a VERY cool piece of software but you have to pay for it.
