Gatecrashing and Sunward - Minor complaints about the books
I bought a physical copy of Gatecrashing when my GM announced we'd be doing exo-planet adventurers for the foreseeable future. I have a few complaints about it that I'd like to share in the hopes the developers can prevent these things in the future: 1. The book's binding is really poorly done. A few pages were glued together near the binding (such that I had to tear them apart to read the print near the margin), and the binding itself is falling apart after only mild use - before I even finished my first read-through it had started to weaken! 2. All the stuff that players will be referring to the book most often for - things with stats (gear and morphs) - is just under the category "Game Info". What a poor method of organization compared with the core book! They did it right in the core book: put GEAR and MORPHS in their own tabs so players can easily flip to exactly those spots. Don't just lump EVERY bit of non-story-setting info into "Game Info". They made this mistake in Sunward too, there are tabs for each planet and setting, but when you get to the stuff that requires frequent lookup it's all just lumped into "Game Information". The content of the book is great though, I look forward to future books. Hopefully they'll be organized in a fashion that keeps in mind what players will be looking for in the heat of a game (anything with stats basically) and highlight that stuff.

Damn, I love this game but if my bindings start falling apart I will stop giving these guys my money. I went through this once with another game manufacturer and it is kind of depressing when you drop a couple hundred dollars on books and they start to self destruct. Beyond that I love what I have seen so far especially in these two mentioned in this thread. Keep up the good work and please please make sure the printer has quality bindings.

Get the PDF, silly. :) Solves the 'flip to the right place' problem as well.

PDF's are a bit harder to use at the table at times :)

You just need to have enough laptops and tablets around :-)

I am not going to comment on the binding issue, it has been brought up before and is known to sometimes happen, but;

What? You want things that people will be referencing multiple times during play in entirely separate parts of the book? Why? In the Core rulebook the morphs are like, 200 pages away from the rest of the gear. In the Supplements they tend to be less than 10 pages away. How is that less organised? You would prefer if the new rules were haphazardly thrown in amongst the setting material?

I concur with CodeBreaker: If one needs to look up some game info in either Sunward or Gatecrashing, one knows exactly what section of the book to flip to. Just go to the back. Further, if one is that familiar with the content of the book, it wouldn't take long to find in the 30 or so pages of Game Info. I for one love that all the setting material is separate from the game material, as it makes it easier for me to use the awesome setting with a system of my choosing (HeroQuest).

I never said they should separate the frequently-referred-to-info by hundreds of pages. I said they should give the sections their own headings, so if I want to look up gear I can flip to the "GEAR" section, same with morphs. Those sections would ideally be quite close to each other, but labeled.

I haven't had a problem at all with the bindings on my books, apart from my cat constantly playing with the cloth bookmarks. :) They have held up very well.
