Gaming Social Network
So here's a little something you may have seen floating around the internet (and in fact, I linked an earlier version of it in a thread recently), but one I've never otherwise expressly posted on the EP Forums before. This is a little collaberation on the idea of a VR/gaming exclusive Social Network and some associated factions and clades therein, which also burst into a lot of VR/AR game ideas for EP and some plot hooks which are related. I don't claim full credit on the document, I edit and curate, and did probably a little over half the game ideas (at this point) and some of the factions the rest is a conglomerated effort from a couple /epg/ threads in the past. Since it started as a bit of an open build, I'm personally always open to commentary on it and additional ideas for games, NPCs and plot hooks, etc from others. I also update it all the time whenever I have a neat idea for how to rebrand some extant video game or bit of gaming culture in kind of a Future-y way. (Meta-Game Version: See how many of the references you understand!)

Of course
Oh God, of course Space Station 13 would survive into the Transhuman future. EDIT: Sudden inspiration: Eclipse Phase mod for Space Station 13. I want to see this now.

So a couple of people have
So a couple of people have mentioned to me some of the names for the games are too obvious or jokey and it kind of narrows the reference a little (for example, ADAM Uplink is clearly inspired by EVE Online in name, but the descriptor is broad enough to encompass lots of space simulator/resource gathering games) and I kind of agree. I've pulled a couple games out of the home version (Biohazard and Helpline Progress) just because they really just form references to singular titles which don't contribute much in terms of interesting interpretation. So I have a couple of names (and possibly descriptions) I'm wanting to pick people's brains on improving, which is: ADAM Uplink, AquaJolt, Barsoomian Plumber Siblings, Looking Glass Boundary, Party Bunker 2K and RiposteOffensive: Planetary Strike.

I think a good part of the "joke" is that everything survived into the Transhuman future.

Addition
May I suggest the addition of Pokemondrian, from Anders Sandberg's Think Before Asking?

In-character vanity projects
Which one was supposed to be Space Station 13 again? At least three of the games on the list match, including Life Simulator. But seriously, what this list is missing is… licensed games. Ambelina: Blood in the Clouds A collection of action-packed VRFPSs, all personally written by a team of Claudia Ambelinas about a team of Claudia Ambelinas. The Pax Familiæ's role as a protagonist takes players to exotic locales, from the original ("slightly" embellished) retelling of her feud with the Night Cartel on Octavia to rampages on Aten station, Echo IV, Ganymede, Xiphos, New Sicily and other increasingly improbable locations. Despite the superficial realism of the series' art style, Blood in the Clouds has a very loose physics engine and nigh-invulnerable player characters, making screwing around between missions somehow more fun than the shallow revenge fantasies crafted by the Ambelinas assigned to scriptwriting. Blood in the Clouds remains uncensored in Morningstar just like everything else, but is banned in most C-net habitats and critically panned in autonomist space. Bad reviews don't stop players from enjoying the game unironically, however, and Pax Familiæ is currently planning expansion packs based on nano-taggants embedded in collectible figurines.

Solid, I'll do that.

Yes, this is amazing. - EDIT: updated the OP with a newer version of the document. Changed some things, pulled some things, added suggestions from people here and elsewhere (a couple new games and a factional idea) and some new stuff on my own (I/E I reworked an idea into something that fit better and added a new NPC hook derived from bluespectre's contribution) and stuff. Bracketed names are ones I'm interested in altering, maybe.

Keep this going yo
Hey, this is a fun thread. Why come nobody's adding to the stone soup? Remember This In this sim developed by a Commonwealth microcorp, players take on the role of a back-alley psychosurgeon deep in the bowels of Remembrance. With a new, powerful, fast and hopefully fictional hand-mounted ego bridge, the player's role is to dissect the decadent upper class' memories like a vibroblade through aerogel, reshaping Lunar society as they see fit. The psychosurgical procedures shown to players are grossly simplified and user friendly while still following the "rules" as they were. The developers of Remember This spent several months wrestling over what genre the game would be and insisted on adding features from their public suggestion box, so the somber Lunar tale of what it means to be an ego After Fall also contains kung-fu battles with sewer mutants and a holographic gun that fires real bullets.

MORE
EX-Meiosis An intense fighter pilot sim taking place in the most unlikely of environments-the transhuman body. When a gatecrasher contracts an alien infection during one of their jaunts (The word "exurgent" is never used…) they become badly mutated, and threaten to birth even more dangerous creatures. The player is an experimental surgeon, piloting a nano-ship armed with weapons and tools to destroy the bacteria at a cellular level. The ship controls very similar to a Martian aircraft or Europan submarine, depending on the level's environment, and its whiplike twin manipulators are difficult to control for those used to humanoid limbs. Though it's not obvious, EX-Meiosis is actually an extensive mod of an anti-drug PSA released by Cognite a few years Before Fall. The original Torin Ripley: Experimental Nanosurgeon had the players shrink themselves down to personally destroy the Petal nanodrugs inside an addict's brain. Like many early simulspaces, there were some serious disconnects between player interface and avatar movement, along with the lackadaisical level design one expects from edutainment games. Cognite has since swept the original game under the rug, which has nothing to do with how they produce more over-the-counter mind altering substances than any other part of the PC.

Kid's Games
Billy and the Cloneasaurus A brand-new game sponsored by Skinthetic. Players are granted an affectionate pet dinosaur, whom helps them escape from the twisty, complex, puzzle-laden halls of an alien spacecraft. The dinosaur has the ability to change species depending on what flavors of jellybeans you feed it- jellybeans are a dinosaur's favorite food, naturally. One moment you might be carried across gaps by a pterodactyl, only to have an anklyodon break through some glass-steel blocks a minute later, and the limited resources you have means you must carefully observe and plan what shapes you use when. No matter what body your dinosaur friend has, though, they will always love you. Billy and the Cloneasaurus is already semi-famous due to its extensive level editor, and semi-infamous for taking down some user-created maps that resemble classified Consortium installations a little too much. The real question is how a 7 year old girl posted those…

So to shamelessly necro my
So to shamelessly necro my own topic, it's probably been a while since I updated the copy here, and I still intermittently update my "home" version. But here are a couple of ideas extracted that I just added now: Monster’s Duel: One of the premiere AR TCGs, players construct digital decks of cards composed of fantastic creatures and magical spells and traps and battle it out to reduce the other player’s Life to 0. Players can also trade cards, and spend virtual points or real cash for booster packs with computer regulated rarity. Due to its immense popularity and complexity, the core game has a lot of variation in tournament and house rules, some of which might not make a lot of sense to a casual observer. Rumor has it the card randomizer has some kind of emotional context to it, providing players with strong belief and will the proper cards at the right moment, but the programmers insist the software isn’t capable of that kind of analysis. Xi-Wing: Another game built out of several training programs, Xi-Wing is a hybrid RTS/flight simulator, where one player controls one or more destroyers/carriers armed with space fighters - each controlled by another player. The primary player must coordinate his squadron while also maintaining awareness of the tactical situation and individual pilots need to score objectives while also making sure to stay in line with the overall battle plan. The game has been hacked a lot to allow “non-standard” craft which behave like old Sci-Fi vids, or even historical fights with planes and aircraft carriers. Rumors abound that several real combat missions have been run through Xi-Wing using QE comms.
