Face-to-face near Nashville, TN
Hello, all. I'm looking for gamers up for Eclipse Phase near Nashville, TN. This would be my first time playing, but I'm a fast learner. If there are others who are interested in playing but not running a game, I'll try running it myself. I've been playing RPGs for two or three years now, and running a D&D 4E campaign nearly that long. I eventually found myself wanting to do things the system didn't support very well, so I moved on to Burning Wheel, which is perfect for medieval or fantasy play, even for a Dune game. But what about a serious science fiction game for someone who loves Iain Banks and Vernor Vinge? A week ago, I discovered Eclipse Phase, and here I am. I'm envisioning a game where players don't immediately begin as members of Firewall, so that game concepts can be introduced gradually. Also more emphasis on intrigue, combat, capers, and investigation than on horror elements or exploring the wider universe's mysteries. It seems to me there's enough political fodder just in transhumanity itself for plenty of adventures and character development. Something I love, though, is campaigns that aren't on rails. I'm happy for there to be totally emergent gameplay that wasn't what any of us expected. Once I know a system, I'm pretty good at rolling with the punches. Player freedom challenges my creativity; what more could any GM ask for? I have time on most weeknights and often on the weekend. I enjoy marathon game sessions, which often works best during the day on a weekend. I hope there are some fellow middle Tennesseans out there!

I live about an hour (north) west of Nashville on I24. Depending on where you live, maybe we can work something out, if you are still interested. Let me know.
