Extropian indenture and backups
There's a situation coming up in my game, and I'd like to hear what people here think about it. Let's say I'm an Extropian, and completely fucked up my finances. I now have humongous debts, no property except my morph, and a contractual clause signing me to indenture if I cannot pay. I also have a backup contract with a local provider. I manage to get to an egocasting station and pawn my morph for a 'cast out to a scum swarm somewhere. My creditors will probably claim my backup, re-instance it, and activate the indenture clause in my contract. Are the creditors still interested in the fork that got away? If they are, why? If not, isn't that a fairly simple way to escape your debts if you're totally broke? Thoughts?

Probably really
Probably really psychologically damaging to sell your fork into slavery, existential crisis and the like, plus you would probably need to abandon your reputations and start with a new name, since the indenture contract presumably has clauses about "we own the labor of person X" so if a fork of you is acting in your name, they may claim a breach of contract, since someone else (namely you) is benefiting from your labor, contrary to their contract owning said labor. Or so I would guess. Indenture and extropian law is probably really fascinating.

It really depends on the contract and definition of person in such contract. If the person of the contract is you and your forks then they just gained two free indentures for the price of one. If the person of the contract is you and specifically you(I mean, the ID that signed the document) then the contract is fullfiled. If the person of the contract is you and a recent alpha fork or a fork under specific conditions then it depends on such conditions. If the contract has no specifications about the subject, but there is still conflict, then they can either call an arbiter to mediate in the subject or accept it because the contract is fullfiled, and I guess they can also risk to ask around "what if, we hipothetically put a bounty on the fork of this guy? How many of you would aprove?" and see if their rep backslash would be meaningless or since is such a "common" practice, other extropians would see justice in this act. Note: Why not do it in the dirty way? You end up indentured for 1 year for unespecified services and then the bussines you're working for realiced what you did and then they send YOU to hunt your OWN ego like a "freelance" bounty hunter, failure to so will result in an extention of your indentured service indifinetly for being such a "smartass". So you have the dilema to either, "kill yourself"(and the 0.001% deviation doesn't apply here, since the objective is the original fork, wether it changed or not, and all the subsequent forklites that might arise until there is only one) or be expeled from extropia and suffer a huge rep backslash.

The third Takeshi Kovacs book has a younger fork of him hunting him down for causing political unrest. (non-spoiler)

Younger Kovacs was a cocky
Younger Kovacs was a cocky prick :P another wrinkle is jurisdictions, namely I can't think of a legal way to enforce extropian contracts outside extropia unless a signatory is a permanent resident of extropia and another location. like a branch of a martian hyper corp
