Eater of minds - Seed intelligence idea
I picture a intelligence thats related to a hive mind (likely to be confused with one). It seeks to improve its Intelligence & knowledge by hunting suitable minds & "eating" them. Among other things - Not only its cannibalistic dining. The eaten minds gets merged & become components of accumulating knowledge & intelligence. Perhaps its a Artificial intelligence that is the unifying structure for containing & merging the captive minds.(Or a dead opera Glitterati with a ambitious life support system.) But the merged result is the manifested will, not its specific components. Each component before the merger wouldn't think its was the entity -Perhaps not even the "original" AI component. Should it be possible to rescue a eaten mind, it still wouldn't think its was the entity -since a water drop isn't the ocean. "Number 6: I am not a number, I am a free man." Inspirations are of course from various films & anime that portray hive minds (or similar). Key inspirations (with vague spoilers) were the mentioned Glitterati life support system or a large burlap sack of bugs.

While the borg has been done to death, it might be EPesquely creepy to have someone who steals and incorporates *parts* of other people's egos into itself. Imagine an AGI that extracts useful skills from captured victims and uses them as skillsofts. Each skill will be tied to a particular personality or style: when speaking French the AGI speaks with a thick Quebecoise accent, when hacking it hums old J-pop, and when trying to negotiate it seems to be religious. You could have a group of these mindstealers: each a somewhat random agglomerate of parts and personalities, driven by a ruthless core mind. They are housed in equally cobbled-together synthmorphs or badly assembled cyborgs based on captured biomorphs (some of which are still conscious and individual, but had their motor functions rerouted due to crude puppeteer implants). Maybe the remnant of an old military or research installation from before the Fall, taken over by the not-quite-ready-for-primetime software and now quietly pirating through the asteroid belt for spare parts and more skills. It might not be an existential threat or super-smart, but it would be creepy as hell.

The futuristic zombies (like the Borg) is not what I had in mind.

This is more in line with the Mind eater. Hmm, multiple Mind stealers/mind eaters that are cooperating. Yes I like that creepy scenario. How about this. The Mind eater would use mostly singular bodies to contain its gathered agglomerated mind in. (that should make it less techno zombie -and more of a Hannibal Lecter type.) Capable of blending in amongst unaware transhumans, if only to be a successful head hunter. It may not be skilled or intelligent enough -yet. It have ambitions after all.
