Hello nizkateth! An
Hello nizkateth! An impressive number of games played there, do you have a favorite among them? Also, to satisfy my curiosity, what differs an anti-theist from an atheist?

Hiya ^_^
It's hard to really say for favorite, since my preferences change on me pretty regularly. Done the most with various permutations of D&D, but lately I've mostly been reading Numenera. An atheist is technically just anyone who doesn't believe in any form of divinity. As an anti-theist I also hold that religious belief is actively harmful, faith is dangerous, and that they should be opposed and/or eliminated for the betterment of the species. Even good things done in the name of faith are tainted by it; I see frighteningly little difference between "I help feed the poor because god(s) want me to" and "I killed my children because god(s) wanted me to". The mindset of favoring unproven beliefs (or 'inspired' feelings) over facts is just inherently bad. Answer to most common secondary questions: I am also a staunch supporter of free speech and the like, so I would never ever support legal effort to stop religion. Nor am I foolish enough to think that eliminating religion would solve all the world's problems. ^_^

Hi, I'm Lonnie, and I'm an addict.
First gamed in the Early 80's - D&D/AD&D, Star Frontiers, Traveller, Twilight:2000, Gamma World. GM'd for a bit and stopped in 1987. Lost all connection with gaming after school, until I went to Rock-Con on a whim in 2012, and ran into one of my old D&D buddies who I hadn't seen since he was like 14. Since then, I've played in a ST:TNG game, an Amazing Adventures game, some D&D 5.0, am about to start playing in a Hunter: The Reckoning campaign. Went to my first Gen-Con last year and was instantly smitten by the Posthuman Studios stuff while I was there wandering the bazaar. Picked up the core book, The Devotees, and Zone Raiders there and have been systematically picking up the other sourcebooks in both print and PDF form since then. The AA GM I have wants a hiatus after this current adventure, so in about a month I will be GM'ing for the first time in nearly three decades, and mangling the EP universe at the same time. Otherwise, white male, 44, Northern Illinois, boring.

Hi Lonnie...
Thanks for reminding me, I didn't mention state did I? State: Maine.

Greetings, my fellow sapient beings!
Well, since an introduction thread exists, I figure this is a good place to make my first post. Zeropoint is my primary internet handle, but I also go by Glasnerven when someone else already has my first choice. I discovered Eclipse Phase recently, when a gaming acquaintance of mine said she might enjoy playing a game in which one could roleplay a person who was also a spaceship. The combination of bold science fiction with quasi-Lovecraftian horror elements caught my attention immediately and now I'm a fan, even if I don't know anyone else who likes it. Biographical Data: Male, white (German, Scandinavian, and British ancestry--I'm multi-white! The sun is not my friend!) heterosexual human with a few minor surgical modifications to my body, mostly corrections of medical problems. VERY slight touch of autism spectrum disorder, possibly. Romantically challenged. I live in Oregon and as of writing this I'm in my late 30s, currently going back to school to upgrade from technician to engineer, because I want to help build the future instead of merely maintaining the present. I was raised right-wing Protestant Christian, but deconverted over a period of several years, and have now been an atheist for about five years. I value knowledge, reason, and not being a dick, since we're all in this cold, harsh world together. "Humanist" is a label that fits fairly well, and I've also taken a few basic bits of Buddhism for my personal approach to life. My voter registration is "Not a Member of a Party", and I'd go for a Scandanavian-style social democracy if anyone offered it in this country. Of course, my knowledge of political and economic theory is very limited. RPGs played: (in no particular order) HERO 4th, 5th, and 6th edition (I love the crunchy detail and flexibility of the system) D&D 3.x Pathfinder Rifts Mage Alternity Palladium Supers (?) BESM 2 Deadlands GURPS Eclipse Phase (GMed one session for my gaming group, who had never heard of it) FUDGE derivatives West End d6 Star Wars and some indie/homebrew stuff, as well as things I've forgotten. I haven't absorbed the setting well enough to say for sure what faction I'd join, but maybe the Autonomists or Argonauts, and I'd like to try living in a flexbot morph. I've been eyeing the "in character" section and thinking about dreaming up sort of a cantankerous old guy who got evacced from Earth and eventually woke up in some outer system habitat wearing a flexbot "because no one else wanted it" and then finding it growing on him (err, in the figure of speech sense) as he worked his technician/engineer job.

Hey, can I create another account for my EP character? I know sock puppetry is frowned upon, but I'd only use it for the IC forum, and I would clearly identify, on this account, that that is my IC profile. Kinda dorky, I admit, but my "argonaut" badge here isn't my IC identity, but rather an IRL identity in that I am really into science.
The moderation team has completed its discussion now and concluded that the answer to this question is No. One account will have to suffice per person.

Heh! Though, are there many cultures that don't have a strong history of drinking? I mean, humans have been getting drunk for longer than we've been human... ^_^
