Demos and simspace scenery
One of the cool things in EP is that simspaces are everywhere, and a mature technology. But given the weird tastes of post-Fall transhumans, simspaces are also going to be *weird*. So just how odd can they be? BoingBoing had a post today with a very nice demo, a piece of software fitting into 64 kilobytes yet producing this. Might be good scenery for the Fall, but also hints at the possibility of hiding very strange simspaces into tiny spaces. Who needs a server for it, when you can fit it into a bullet? Or for that matter, implement the demos into blobjects. Imagine this as a thing on your desk, a mixture of mobile nanodevices, holography and AR. Or simspaces inhabited by abstract entities: http://vimeo.com/9856705 Non-photorealistic illustrations: http://vimeo.com/6130123 Raw sensor data: http://vimeo.com/3921306 Geometric shapes: http://vimeo.com/5010187 Abstractions: http://www.demoscene.tv/page.php?id=172&lang=uk&vsmaction=view_prod&id_p... So what other *strange* simspaces are people inventing?

Here is an interesting case of evolving a motion pattern for a wormlike structure, not unlike the slitheroid: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l-qOBi2tAnI&feature=related Quite alien, might be useful for EP. A lot of the 3DVCE evolved critters suggest weird bots and alien creatures. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F-GnKr4rw4M

I'm looking forward to the day when the same logic is applied to a different artificial physics; protocols. Instead of gyrating over a virtual landscape, the evolved critter slides into poorly secured computer environments in search of processing power. Survival of the fittest ensures that the subtle virii penetrates the shield, gets it's sustaining processor power, and sends children out to repeat the cycle.
