Just out of curiosity (ahh, but that's how it always begins:) Has investigation of those ruins of long-gone alien civilations at the end of some of the Pandora Gates established a general technical level when they vanished? Were they around or perhaps ahead of Transhumanity? Or have examples been found of beings that perished at earlier levels of technical development?

The book is, I think deliberately, vague on the subject. A DM can fit it differently depending on the setting. If they were at the level we were at the fall, then they likely suffered as we did. If more advanced, then it's vitally important to know what did them in, so it won't get us.
