Firefly Characters - Eclipse Phase-ified.

Howdy, got bored while watching Firefly (Well, I watched Firefly, then got bored) and so I decided that I wanted to try writing up the primary characters of Firefly into EP. First step is getting what Morphs they are all sleeved in right, and I was wondering what peoples thoughts are. So far I have: Mal - Splicer Zoe - Exalt Wash - Bouncer Inara - Sylph Jayne - Olympian Kaylee - Splicer Simon - Menton River - Futura Book - Splicer Most of the characters are really quite easy to do, the only ones I am not sure how to get quite right are Kaylee and River. With River I intend to make her a straight out Psi-2 wack-job, but I was considering writing a new (Expensive) trait for Kaylee that would let her pick a single Psi-Chi sleight so that she could get Grok. Thoughts? I promise to post all the character sheets once I am done :p

I agree mostly with two exception Shephard Book: Ruster Kaylee: Bouncer for the Reaper, would you say a particullary nasty scumbarge crew? perhaps infected by a yet unknown strain of the Exsurgent virus? The Blue Gloves are quite logically of the Planetary Consortium, likely Direct Action

I would do the Reapers as Exsurgent infected. And I would be iffy about putting Kaylee into a Bouncer. I mean, one of the big points of her character is that she is basically just a backwater lass who happens to be a technical genius isn't it? A Bouncer suggests that she has been in space for quite some time. Perhaps she makes more sense as a Ruster herself. Grew up as part of the B or something.

Blue Gloves are Project Ozma. One thing I think crosses over well is the use of revolvers and lever action rifles/shotguns. I have no idea why they appear in Firefly except that it fit's the atmosphere. They work really well in EP tho. Almost anyone could code prints for a revolver. Even if you didn't have access to a Fabber it would still be fairly easy to make 19th century firearms and amunition and they'd still be fairly effective vs soft targets. All you need to do is stat weaker versions of EP pistols, and shredders then steal the rules for recoil from shadowrun. Firefly kinda pissed me off. Anyone notice in the movie that the furthest planet out in the solar system was still bright and sunny?

Firefly Characters

I posted these characters on the RPG.net forums, having built them sometime during the Transhuman kickstarter campaign. I'd previously done a half completed Leverage Inc conversion, and tried something a little more cryptic in my translation for Firefly. I rewrote the backstory for the Mal and Zoe analogues, making them members of a Barsoomian militia unit attempting to retain control of the Martian Gate from Hypercorps interest, when they fight a valiant campaign only to be dealt a crushing defeat without timely reinforcements. I haven't written up my Simon and River analogues, but they're in the works.
