How do you acquire a new morph with positive traits?
This is actually a set of questions. Given sufficient credit/rep, can a character simply decide he wants a Futura with psi chameleon, psi defense, tough and limber, and have that morph assembled (over a year and a half)? Or are positive morph traits not reliably replicable? And how do you pay for such a custom morph? The corebook (p.277) provides a 1CP of positive traits = 500 credits correspondence, but what if you are buying your morph with favors? Indeed, should a Futura (which has a cost more than twice that of an Exalt) cost a single expensive favor like an Exalt does? Finally, when acquiring such a morph, should you also pay the Rez cost of the positive traits *in*addition* to the cred/rep cost?

On Question 1: Yes. Why would you not be able to? Each of those traits are Morph traits, they all have a corresponding CP cost. You turn that CP cost into credits and buy them like you would any other item. I would also say that it would be perfectly acceptable for a GM to say that each Trait is bought individually from the Morph you are getting it for and so each requires a separate favour. That means that you don't get any cheesy people managing to fit every positive trait onto an Expensive Morph because “it still only counts as one Expensive level favour!”. On Question 2: The favour system if very much a GM controlled device. Note that the Futura morph is both very much more expensive than the Exalt and is also much, much rarer. Not only would I throw difficulty penalties on the favour roll like a motherfucker, I would say that this is not the kind of thing you can get with one single favour. Maybe have it so you need to first find someone even willing to talk about a Futura on the market. Then you have to get a meet with that person. Then you have to convince them they want to sell. Then you have to get the papers for it. Then you have to actually get the thing to you (I seriously doubt every Station has a couple of these dangerous and potentially virus infected BioMorphs just sitting on ice). On Question 3: I would say no. You are already paying your hard earned money/favours on getting those traits. It would be silly to demand Rez Points. Rez Points are for improving your Ego, credits are for improving your Morph.

I'd probably let you buy the Futura as cheaply (in terms of favors) as the Exalt, assuming you could even get it in the first place -- finding one that somebody has for some purpose *other* than ongoing research, or getting something with that kind of reputation grown. But remember, an "Exsurgent morph" technically has a lot of game advantages, too. Getting an Exsurgent-consumed body, an Exhuman morph or even a Futura, however, *can* raise a few red flags here and there. Be advised. ;)

The whole point of the Futura morph is that it is extremely hard to get (due to stigma, limited edition, blah, blah, blah), and as such it will always be a pain in the royal butt to get your hands on a crappy one, let along one with positive traits.

I'd imagine the hard (and expensive) part of getting a new Futura morph would be licensing the blueprints from Cognite; it's not a popular morph, so the blueprints aren't exactly floating around the ether.

Maybe I phrased the question unclearly; but my main issue is not about Futuras, it's about morphs with multiple specific positive traits. Can you assume you can always grow a morph with an arbitrary set of morph positive traits (barring incompatibilities such as striking looks + innocuous), just like you can add an arbitrary set of augmentations to any morph?

Re: How do you acquire a new morph with positive traits?
You might need to hire a biosculptor or genengineer to design the body to your specifications if it's particularly non-standard and there aren't blueprints for it floating around, and it might have unintended negative traits, but yeah, pretty much.

It's kinda like asking to have the extra features package in your car. It may cost you extra but you will have it.
