I saw this movie this afternoon, and despite the critic's bashing, I really enjoyed it. Aspects of it reminded me of Eclipse Phase, and really got my interest in EP going again... even though the connection is only tangential. The reviewers were way too harsh. I have no regrets seeing it.

I think the film has plenty of useful ideas for EP. I have already mentioned it in the dreamscape thread and suggested a new trait based on the film in the sources of inspiration thread: Militarized subconscious, 10 CP: through training and psychosurgery the character has a subconscious that tends to detect and react to any outside influences. This makes attempts of infiltration, psychosurgery, suggestion or hyponosis harder (-20 to rolls). The downside is that if infiltration manages a critical success it can turn parts of the subconscious against the character, for example triggering paranoia or internal conflicts. One interesting issue is how you control the geometry of a dreamscape. The characters seemed to just will it, rather than give any explicit commands. Maybe the trick is a good muse or a neural interface that monitors the premotor cortex.

I am at work, so I'll answer later.. but just a brief comment. The initial reviews were not favorable. However they swung around very fast 48 hours after high box office ticket sales, and fans were speaking up to praise the movie. I hate to be cynical, but critics get squeemish when it looks like their review might get a "WTF!?!" reaction from the public.

I believe the dreamshare machine induced lucid dreaming, in which dreams are controlled willingly.
