Electronic Releases - Short Stories from the books, iPad character pdfs
I have been following the game for a while. I am loving what I see so far. One thing I am really loving is the iPad optimized item. I am using one as I type this, so you know I have a use for them. ;) I admit I have not bought it yet. (and I am buying, even though you have the same stuff on there for free; so sue me, I'd feel cheap for getting the free one when it is right next to the pay one and they are the same thing) The only reason I haven't is because my computer is out of commission for the moment and as far as I know DTRPG can't dl directly to iPad. As for the short stories. Great stuff. I have the book, but I am a completionist. Haven't got the new story yet, and really want that. Are there plans for anymore iPad optimized items? There really isn't a big need for them, but they are still neat, and an instant sell for iPad using fans. (unless they take the cheapo route) heh Edit: *grumble* pudgy fingers... Next time I am switching to landscape before I type.

If I remember my reading right one of Adams side gigs at the moment is going through other developers backlog on drivethrough and seeing if they can be thingymerjigged to work better with newer media stuff like the iPad. Hopefully this means that he is doing the same for the Posthuman stuff :D One of the things I would adore is a core book designed for the not quite 16:10 optimal display of the iPad (I cannot remember what ratio A4 books use, so feel free to correct that bit).

We're evaluating how iPad-optimized things sell and going from there. Doing the whole core book into an iPad-optimized format would take a *lot* of work ... I'm not saying "no," but it's not something we can devote time to right now. All of our PDFs should work awesomely on the iPad, though. Main downside is the PDF libraries that Apple provides don't support layers, so you can't hide specific layers while using the PDF on the iPad, but you can when using it in Adobe Reader, FoxIt, and other 3rd party readers that support layers.

Personally, I am for you sticking with the basic stuff and putting these little extras out only when time/money permits. You are right. The basic pdfs do work just fine. I really hope Apple provides an update to how iPhone OS handles pdfs. I can't even read my Earthdawn 3rd Ed. on my iPad due to the issues. Also, other pdfs work fine but have issues with the fonts, making them all jumbly.

If you bought Earthdawn 3rd Edition from DriveThruRPG, let them know about it, please. They're working with some freelance designers (myself included) to get many titles fixed up to work better on the iPad. http://rpg.drivethrustuff.com/contact_us.php to drop them a line.

Ok, I'll do that.
